Evercool Cooling Box.
ACARS•August 16, 2017
The Cooling Box was received as described. As one review stated about fitment, the enclosure did not fit the case I planned to use either. I'll chalk that up to the odds. It fits all of my other cases just fine. All I had to do was sand the sides of the filter door flush and viola it fits perfectly.
I chose to remove the original fan and install a PWM fan instead, so I could use an existing motherboard header and I used the opportunity to move the wires to the other side of the cage for a better fit .
I also filed a little material off the top of the latch of the filter door in order to make it easier (possible) to open.
All in all , this adapter is built like a tank. It survived a five foot fall with all the bays filled with drives. The only casualty was the plastic filter door, that's my fault. I used it on another case that I doesn't need the door so win, win.
I would recommend this to anyone needing the extra drive space along with the cooling needs. It works great for both 2.5" and 3.5 " hard drives.

The bezel didn't fit into my case correctly, it ...

The bezel didn't fit into my case correctly, it just overlapped and I had to shave off about 1/16" from the plastic bezel, so I deducted a star for that.
Otherwise this thing works well. Fan is whisper quiet even though it's an 80mm, probably because it runs at a lower speed since it doesn't need to be on full blast for cooling HDDs.
I put this into my NAS that had run out of 3.5" HDD slots and it allowed me to add another 6TB to it. Definitely worth the money if you need to add more HDDs and you don't have enough slots left in your case.

While the option is there, 3x3.5" drives seems a sketchy configuration...

I don't know what possessed the EverCool team to put the connector (which is molex, by the way, if you were wondering) of the fan at the LEFT side of the bay as you look from the front -- you know, the side AWAY from the backplane where 95% of cases route cables?
Anyways, it's one of those 'adequate for the job' sort of things. For the price you pay, it's a great way to expand storage. To place three 3.5" HDDs (or similar devices) in it seems a bit of a stretch though -- yes, you can do it, but even as I spaced out the two drives that I intended to (and never intend to worry about this thing ever again), it seemed packed. I can't imagine triple HDDs, ESPECIALLY if you get thick storage disks (like my double-thickness 4TB WD Blue).
The fan is a dinky little 80mm number, it doesn't light up or anything but it has a decent CFM. Compared to these two HDDs' place at the bottom front of my case, even though they were in front of big 120mm case fans, they seem to run cooler based on my monitoring programs. One thing I DID notice was a tinny whining, but this seemed to go away after I pulled the filter open while it was running, pushed down a bit of the filter that was sticking out, then pushed it back in. Make sure to check that.
The filter installed is a very fine-pored one, probably one of the best parts of the unit.
The EverCool logo on front... is a sticker. Bummer. Still, even without it your tower will look 'normal'-ish, but it does have a little divot dug into the grill for it, and its absence is conspicuous.
The main reason why I'm giving this a middle-of-the-line review is... well, yes, TECHNICALLY you can install triple-HDDs, but I would not do that myself. The one question-answerer saying 1" of clearance between drives was being generous. Again, MAYBE if all you have are 1TB baby platters, but if this is for archival/large-cap HDDs, you need to watch for that.

Great item, does what it says. I would recommend replacing the fan it comes with.

This item was exactly what I was looking for. It fits very snugly into two empty 5.25 bays and allows you to mount 3-4 hard drives in the space instead. The mounts are excellent quality, and made of metal and not plastic. The filter for the fan is also high quality. There is also an included mount for solid state drives. My only gripe with this product was the low quality fan that came with it. It wasn't a huge deal because it can be easily replaced with an adequate fan (I replaced it with a Silent Wings 2 - Gehäuselüfter - 80 mm which I also recommend). All things said, if you're looking to convert two 5.25in bays to 3.5in hard drive bays, this is a great item to do it.
Great for maximizing airflow

I was transferring two 2.5 inch hard drives from my laptop into a new desktop and was searching for an aesthetic and affordable solution. This handy drive bay allowed me to remove all the hard drive bays from my Fractal Design Define R5 case to allow full unobstructed airflow from the two 140mm front panel fans.
I very much appreciated the included 2.5 bay adapter that allowed me to install my drives without any additional hardware. It also comes with an acceptable FILTERED (woo!) fan to help compensate for the tight-ish squeeze of the drives. The fan's filter can be accessed by popping out the front panel from its very sturdy (but still plastic) holding mechanism. The fan's orientation can be changed to redirect how its power cable is routed away from the bay for cable management. I thought these were very nice engineering touches.
I'm very happy with this purchase. It met all my expectations and was very affordable.
