Great mantle for our "fireplace"

I really like this crown molding shelf. It's perfect for our use. I installed it above our "fireplace" as a mantle. It's the perfect fit, size, made really well and no defects. I'd order again if I needed a nice shelf or mantle.
Looked higher quality than it actually is. Questionable mounts. Its OK for light use.

Mounting is done with 2 small woodbrackets.
Would not trust with anything heavy unless using better (metal) brackets.
Returned in hopes of finding something of better quality.

Ordered 4 of the 18" shelves and 1-60" for my new home and was ecstatic that the look beautiful
The 60" shelf was meant to hold a cable box and DVD player but was too slim so we added a shelf too it in order to keep to the crown mold look but over very happy with purchase
We drilled a hole in back to run cords through and used the empty cavity space to hold extra cords so that was awesome to be able to

Love the Shelves, but Not the Hardware

The shelves are gorgeous and very well made. Installation was easy, but the hardware that came with the shelves wasn't sturdy enough - just some long screws and plastic hollow wall anchors. Instead of using the mounting hardware provided, I opted for Zip-Toggle Heavy Duty Drywall Anchors model #376236 (no pre-drilling type; they get hammered into the wall) and size #6 flat stainless steel washers to secure the wood mounts to the wall. The toggle lock anchors have a much higher weight capacity (up to 70lbs) than the plastic ones (up to 15 lbs, if nailed into studs) provided with the shelves.
For easy planning and aligning the shelves, I taped the wood mounts to each shelf with painter's tape where I intended them to be, then took a second length of painter's tape (my "guide tape") across the back of the shelf to measure the shelf and mark where the screw holes would need to be. I used those guide tapes to plan out where I wanted my shelves and used them to installing the drywall anchors. Using the tape came in handy, since they could be rearranged and removed easily. I attached a mock-up to show how the taping method works.
I originally ordered these shelves in Espresso, but decided they were too dark for my decor. Rather than return them, I spray painted them white using Rust-Oleum 2X Painter's Touch spray paint in Flat White. Came out great!
