Too much play at the hinge to hold shelf level
R. Reed✓ Verified Purchase•March 30, 2017
I would give this product 5 stars but for one issue. Once mounted, there is substantial play in the mounting pin which causes the shelf to tilt. I am using 2 of these shelves to hold my Yamaha receiver, 22 lbs on one and my Xbox One on the other. I had to make a shim to place around the long bolt that holds the arm to the wall mount in order to compensate for some of the play. Even then, I would say the front edge of the shelf dips by 1/4 inch. The plastic shims I made have allowed this to work, but it could be so much better.
Make sure the shelves are deep enough to hold what you want put on them.

I bought this probably 2 years ago now. Upon receiving it, I found that the shelves were not deep enough to set my Dish receiver (at that time) on and the channel down the middle took up space where the connections on the back needed to be. So I set it aside for about a year. After getting a slightly smaller Dish box, I'm now able to set it on the shelf without it hanging over the edges. The shelf looks really good mounted on the wall but if the shelves aren't deep enough, that really doesn't make any difference.
Beware

I purchase this exact unit back in 2012. Today while I was in another room I heard this loud bang and what sounded like a truck load of marbles hitting the floor! What the blank?? One of the shelf's gave out for no reason! What a mess, glass everywhere. I found glass 12 feet from where it happened. I am thankful no one was setting near or my grandson playing near these shelf's. True I purchased this 4 years ago and I was happy with the unit, but I cannot give this product a positive review knowing the possibility this could happen to someone else. These glass shelf's are only supported were they attach to the wall mount. Just beware.
Update
I wanted to add some pic's to give you a better idea of what happened. The set-top box is an Xfinity RNG-150N which measures 8 x 10 and weighs 3 pounds. So weigh was not an issue. The picture doesn't show the very fine sharp glass slivers which left scratches on both the DVD player and the wood floor. I can't imagine what this would have done to a person.

Nice looking, sturdy shelf. Good for entertainment center.

I got this shelf to mount my AV Receiver out of the reach of a toddler. For that it does its job well. I have it mounted above my TV, slightly offset so I could rotate the arm and have the receiver sitting closer to the wall (it sticks out a good way if pointed straight out from the wall). The shelf looks nice, is the perfect size for my receiver and is quite sturdy.
Easy fix. I went to Home depot and bought ...

Just installed this yesterday 12/17/2015. It definitely takes two people to install it. It is quit heavy. I found that where I wanted to install this I didn't have a stud behind the wall to bolt it into. Easy fix. I went to Home depot and bought 4 steal anchors...$2.00 (holds 70 pounds). Do not use the anchors they give you...plastic and most likely wont hold. I set them into place and they anchored behind the sheetrock. It looks great. Enough room for my cable box, ps4, and my full size blue ray player. Worth the buy. The only negative thing I have to say is about the coating underneath the glass plates. It is very easy to scratch. But if you do scratch it your cable box with cover it.
