Super strong magnet for magnet fishing

This is an awesome, powerful magnet! We used it for magnet fishing off a small dock at a local reservoir with a spool of tarred line I also bought on Amazon. We pulled up some fishing hooks and iron filings but we kept getting the dock mooring cable too. Of course we were hoping for a treasure chest or maybe a ditched revolver from a bygone bank robery, but no dice. This thing is so strong I thought we would break the line trying to get it free of the cable. Ultimately, we lost it not because the line snapped but because the screw eye does not completely form a closed loop and I think the line slipped through that small gap. We'll try again when we can think of a way to overcome that issue, probably use a carabiner. Still, I think this is a great product. Gave 4 stars because of the screw eye. Hi
Compact, strong, great price...but,

Strong, but will only pickup 100 pounds under perfect conditions, i.e., metal has to be clean, dry and at least 1/4" thick and the magnet must contact the full length of the feet...on sheet metal, will hardly pick up a full gallon of paint by the lid, which only weighs 8 pounds. Thought it was strange, but it is what was advertised.
Powerful Chick magnet!

I purchased this magnet for my chicken coop - to scan the ground for any dropped nails, screws, staples etc - after some construction out there. In foraging, if the chicks found & swallowed a small screw, staple etc - it could kill them.
Before I used the magnet, I raked the area well, until the ground was clear, and it all looked fine... however - when I tied the magnet to a string - and swung it like a pendulum - over the ground -this magnet quickly grabbed things out of the soil I hadn't seen. I heard clink after clink as the magnet drew 17 assorted size screws, a whole bunch of staples and bits of staples, and 2 tiny, brown rusted drill bits - up out of the ground!!! This magnet is SUPER STRONG! Also works great after the farrier has shoed the horse, and easily finds any dropped farrier nails.
I like the black covers on the magnetic bars - because they cover the bottoms of the magnet, so it can be put away and stored - without being magnetic. It's a great tool to have at a very fair price.

Good. Strong. Worth the price.

Very strong. When the black spacers are in place the magnet's power is much less and it is safer to handle. I bought two of these. When I removed the two black spacers (shown in the picture) and then connected two of these items magnet-end to magnet-end I could not pull them apart. I had to pull them apart by placing a wrench on each of the two red square sections and twisting them in opposite directions until they slid apart. Not easy. Good magnet. I also used a wrench to tighten the eyebolt. The eyebolt is in firmly now and this whole assembly should last a good 30 years. This is not a fragile item. It will not break if you drop it from 30 feet. It might not even dent it.

Dropped a huge cutco knife behind my monster fridge when I missed the knife holder. So do I hire someone to move the fridge, buy another $$$ knife, or try out an amazingly strong magnet with a perfect hook to tie on string? Voila! Knife back in the rack and I'm using this magnet for other great jobs like checking for pins on the sewing room floor. It's mighty and it's already paid for itself.
