Parts Missing/Poor Customer Service from Walker Edison
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•January 3, 2018
This bed should be assembled and being used by now but the company (Walker Edison) did not send all of the parts. The bars to support the mattress were missing and so were the rungs for both ladders. I have reached out to them with the Lot #, Order #, Model #, etc. (all the items they requested I send to them and they say they cannot find my order despite all of the information provided.
I am not impressed with their customer service and I am pretty close to just returning the bed. I'm regretting going this avenue. But I guess you get what you pay for.
Once we finally got things cleared up with Walker Edison, the missing pieces were shipped to us and the bed is being used. My daughter LOVES it. So despite it not being a complete order when it was first delivered and the rigmarole with getting the missing pieces, the bed frame itself is nice and sturdy.

Good Quality Product, OK Instructions

First off, I just want to say that I couldn't be happier with the quality of this product. We got the silver bunk with the under desk kit. Now that I've got it all together and screwed into the wall, I am continually impressed with this piece of furniture. The metal itself feels heavy duty and good quality and the design of the bed is well thought out.
I also like that since the bed is all constructed from metal tubing and struts, you can easily modify the bed to support third-party electrical components like surge protectors and under-bed lighting. Zip ties are your friend with this bed.
The only thing that drove me nuts about this product are the assembly instructions. Overall, they're easy to understand, each step has directions and illustrations to show you what you're supposed to be doing. Though there are a few times during assembly where small details make all the difference and these small details are not clearly marked in the illustrations and barely mentioned or not mentioned at all in the steps.
If you get just the bed alone, you won't have any issues with the instructions as it goes together pretty easily. Though if you're also installing the desk underneath, you will have to pay special attention to where each cross bar goes and how it's oriented as the holes for the shelving unit only mate with one of the bars and in one particular orientation, which is not explicitly noted in the instructions. This is because the bed and the desk are technically two separate kits that fit together but neither set of instructions make much mention of the other part and as a result, fine details get lost.
Overall, it's a great product, but the instructions need work. Please pay close attention to even the smallest details or you may find yourself redoing steps multiple times like I did. Here are some things I learned putting this together that may help you out:
1. The bed will be more stable in the long run if you use Loctite on all of your bolts.
2. If installing the desk too, skip the last step of bed assembly, which instructs you to terminate all remaining holes to make it look more polished. These holes are all used for the desk so you shouldn't spend the time covering them as the first step of desk assembly is to uncover all of these holes.
3. The brackets used to screw the bed into the wall don't seem to be mentioned in the instructions but the best joints/screws to use for these brackets are the bolts that are screwed vertically into the bottom of the rear cross bar, or the ones that screw horizontally into the rear vertical tubes.
4. I couldn't find two bolt locations that lined up with standard wall stud spacing, so I had to drill a hole into the rear cross bar to accommodate two wall brackets. You could probably get away with one if you use a thick and sturdy screw to drill into the wall stud.
5. Standard 48" LED strip lighting adheres to the bottom of the rear cross bar perfectly and does a great job of lighting up the desk and the wall behind the bed.
6. Zip ties will allow you to attach all sorts of cool things to this bed to extend its functionality without needing to permanently modify the bed itself.
7. I highly recommend zip tying a surge protector into place to the rear cross bar under the desk. That way you can plug a light, computer, device charger, etc all into the desk surge protector without having to go directly to the wall. So the bed then contains its own power grid, making it easier to move the bed around in the future without having to rewire the electronics on your desk.

Sturdy and Versitle

I needed a twin over queen bunk in a modern style, and I believe it does not exist. So I paired this with a low profile queen bed underneath and it works great. I have it in a rental that gets a lot of abuse. After 2 years of adults climbing up and down, it still looks almost new and it is holding up great. I highly recommend!

I thought I read on here that this took a long time to put together. I think for me it was about an hour. The parts on the sides that are ladders all have to be assembled individually, as do the cross beams, but the top part where the rails are all comes as a panel. 2 hours tops. I did have to pay attention to the pictures in the manual pretty closely as there are directions to these pieces, but overall it is like any other modular, overseas manufactured furniture.
All the spot welds on the rails seemed good, with probably a lincoln-head-on-a-penny amount of weld metal affixed, so go ahead and crank it down tight. Powder coat was thick throughout and lightly hitting metal on metal assembling it wasn't enough to gouge it and show bare metal.
Assembled it seems stable enough to hold a coupla decent sized 10 year old boy's playing around on top without swaying too much.
Overall good buy for the prices.
Wife didn't like the ladder tops being closed and thought the boy (5) wouldn't be able to get up there or out by himself. I thought different. Turns out I was right;. Go figure... I was a boy once..
I don't write reviews on normal stuff but on this thought I would help out parents so, yeah. Take it from an engineer that this is a good deal for a kids bed.

I am pretty satisfied with the bed, there are obvious design flaws (such as the fact there are no spaces for the ladders so you have to climb over the railing which can be dangerous but not undo able) in all its a pretty good bed especially for the price. I got it because I wanted more space in my room, and was doubtful if I could get such a bed since I'm a 20 yr old woman, but even with my weight and height it's pretty sturdy and I'm comfortable with it. It looks really nice, tho the paint tends to scratch easily (but not a deal breaker), and I love how much space I can fit underneath. I fit a small couch and my book case under it for a perfect reading nook/game area.
I've read a lot of these reviews and many say the set up is difficult, I wouldn't say it was all that bad. You cannot put it together on your own tho, do not even try. But there are a few tricks to get it don't fast and painlessly, for one you can't really tighten all the screws in the piece you're working on until every bar or such is in place otherwise it's difficult to put together. Once we figured that out, it because SO much easier.
