i hate gators messing up my crab trips

dont loose the little cross piece.... works well, catches fish....alligators will tear it up.... i hate gators messing up my crab trips.... wish i could shoot them in the eye with my pressured ruger 22..... wait! i can.... night night chicken stealer..... change the string to 40lb test, build with zip ties

The string, I removed immediately. Too thin and cheap. Re-strung it with yellow nylon twine. Overall, this trap is awesome catching crab. Juat takes time to assemble and break down to put away. Tie a chicken thigh to the bottom with wire and it's awesome!

I use this to catch blue crabs in the east coast. For around $9, this is a great deal. The next cheapest similar trap I found on Amazon was more than twice the cost. All you need are zip ties which you can find for super cheap in hardware stores or even here on Amazon.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. First, untie the supplied string. It will make assembly easier. You will want to replace this with your own anyway.
2. The two support beams should be inserted from the bottom, DIAGONALLY. The bottom piece is the one without the little piece at the center. The bottom piece also has the side doors attached to it.
3. Attach the top piece to the support beams by inserting it into the hooks of the support beams. This part should be obvious when you try it.
4. Secure the bottom piece to the support beams with 4 zip ties.
5. Secure the top piece to the support beams with 8 zip ties. Each corner requires 2 zip ties so that the beams do not move from side to side.
6. Tie a string to the center of each of the side trap doors.
7. You can feed all the strings through the little hole on the piece located on the top piece. However, do not do this if your strings are too thick because the strings need to be able to slide easily through the hole for the trap doors to open. You can just tie the 4 strings together into a knot. Refer to the photo and you can see that I tied the strings together into a knot.
Tip:
No need to spend money on a bait cage. Just use zip ties to tie the bait directly to the trap.
If you want to replace the supplied string, twine should work well.
