Sweet little Yella Fella!
Brody G.August 3, 2017
Super fun little plane. Easy as pie to fly. Just can't take any breeze or it's all over the place. Steer clear of trees cause one gust of wind and your plane is gone! Other than that I love it. I bought bigger batteries for more flight time. Even getting into the throttle a lot I can get 20 minutes of flight time
Great first time plane.

Perfect plane to get you into the Hobby. Nearly impossible to hurt. First time I flew it I was adjusting the trim and a gust of wind took it up and over a nearby school. I waited until it cleared the building from my perspective and killed the throttle and let it fall to the ground. Not a scratch on it. Battery lift out of the tiny LiPo it comes with is surprisingly good. I get a solid 12 minutes of flying.

When you take it out for the first time I would recommend finding the calmest day, with winds under 3 mph. This thing is so light that the wind will take the control right away from you if you are a beginner. After flying it about 10 times now I can reliably fly it in up to 8 mph winds but do so within limited range. In 10 mph winds you can pretty well fly this at 3/4 throttle into the wind with zero ground speed.

All in all, this is a great little plane for your first. If you have kids, they will love to help you make it take off and land. It is forgiving enough that my 2 year old helps me land it all the time. The dihedral of the wing saves your bacon.
The Hobbyzone Champ really is a CHAMP!!! :-)

This is a great little airplane, provided you don't crash it frequently because it's more delicate than most (I have repaired both main wings, and even disembowelled it to reattach the control arm for the rudder). But yes, this studly little airplane truly is a Champ, and I couldn't be more happy with it!!! :-)

The packaging materials indicate, "ready to fly" right out of the box, and yes -- it really is (well, you do have to pop batteries in the charger & remote and charge the flight battery before your first flight) but even the batteries are included -- there's nothing else to purchase whatsoever!

I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Champ to anybody who wishes to join the exciting world of R/C flying for the following reasons:

1: It's very easy to learn.
2: It flies like a dream.
3: Motor automatically shuts down when your Champ flies too far away from its Tx (remote control).
4: Everything you need to fly is included -- yes, even the batteries.

Its cons are as follows:

1: Somewhat delicate construction (but most external damage is very easy to repair with Styrofoam-safe glue and a bit of tape).
2: Choose a flying day with very little to no wind -- the Champ is very light in weight and a little puff of wind could carry it off.

Having said that, I'd give the Hobbyzone Champ a big two thumbs up!!! :-)
GREAT BEGINNER PLANE
Chris JaronskyMay 6, 2014
while this is a good beginner plane, you need to be careful. And buy glue. My 10 year old son flew this twice, the first time he hit the house and the wing broke. I glued it back on, a pretty simple process. The second time we went to a much larger field and he flew it for about two minutes while he was learning the controls and how the plane reacted. Then he lost control for a few seconds while the plane was diving and he crashed into the ground, breaking the wing again. I glued the wing back on once we got home.

I have flown this plane in zero wind conditions and it works great. For a beginner you really need to make sure they understand the controls and the planes reaction to the controls. I would recommend that on their first few flights you get some altitude. While it is fun flying it closer to the ground, they will not have the reaction time to avert any slight mistakes. At least with some altitude they are afforded a few more seconds to react.

This is a very lightweight plane. You need a calm day to fly it. Or slightly windy conditions once you have more experience. And you need to know that sometimes it will crash, and sometimes the wing will break. No big deal, you can just glue it back on and start all over again.

Along with glue I also purchased spare batteries and spare propellers.
Flies like a Champ!

This is a great little plane. This is my first time ever flying a plane, and this one is perfect for starters(28 year old noobs to be exact). Not sure why some people think the quality is bad on this plane because it is not. If you're gonna fly, you're gonna crash, and things will break, no matter how strong. It does not fall apart in one crash like some people say it does. I have crashed it a lot first starting off and this tough little plane goes un-phased. I did fly it in the sand dunes the first time which was not a good idea. Upon going nose first into a dune it filled the engine/gears up with sand and locked the motor up. No worries though, just get an Xacto knife, cut the tape that holds the top on and clean it out with a toothbrush and a can of compressed air and your off to flying again!

This little plane does fly itself! It's so fun you won't need anything else, but I must admit I'm already looking at the bigger and better planes due to the confidence I have quickly built with the Champ! The remote that comes with it works great. I found that I do not like putting it in the Low Rate mode, it just turns to slow and I find its harder to fly in a smaller area on low rate. So I switched it to High Rate and moved the Push Rods up one hole on the Control Horns and its much more responsive. Can't wait to try out the other positions once I get used to flying.

Oh, and by accident I have found that this plane does great loops, barrel rolls, and flies upside down wonderfully!

If you don't won't to have fun, then don't buy this plane!
