Unusable do to the buzzing noise.

Well it works. It does get loud. But it sure doesn't have the power that it's rated at. The loud buzzing that comes out of the speakers is just crazy. And the sound quality is not worth the 40 you pay. I flushed 40 right down the toilet. Guess I could return it. Oh yea it makes poping noises. Junk! Don't even think of trying it out for 40.

Product is excellent! I have purchased a previous Boss amp for my Kia and put this one in my Dodge Ram quad cab. It sounds great. I did end up having to use a pair of Boss B25N Noise Filters. I had to use the same in the KIA as well. but it sounds amazing once installed. Without the B25N's I would get engine noise.
Good upgrade from factory sound

This 400w amp is a good upgrade from factory sound. However, the 1200w amp on my sub can easily overpower it with bass. Had to turn it way down. My speakers (infinity reference 5.25 in front, jbl reference 6x9 in the back) can handle more, but this works great. I have no issues with overheating over two hour drives (and it is suffocating in my glovebox...). Overall I am satisfied with the quality for the price I paid during a holiday sale. It must have been $30 or so on sale. This was my first amp installation, and I have no regrets. However my next amp will definitely be more powerful. This amp WILL distort at high volume, so adjust the gain with the dials until max volume is clear. If you want something simple that will give you better sound for a good price, buy this amp. I have no complaints about this amp for the price and power range advertised.
Nnnnnoooooo

Clipping Issues

The old SSL 400W amps were much better. I've been using their stuff in arcade machines for a couple years now and with like hardware, the new amps cannot be turned down low enough that they don't cause clipping in the speakers I use. This is pretty bad and I have to turn down my line level now to prevent damage.
I have used about 30 of the older style and so far 8 of these new ones and it's been the same thing all around. I've gotta look elsewhere.
