My AC kept shutting off in 95 degree weather and I kept having water in my garage. The overflow was clogged making the handler shut off. Bought this thing cause I refused to pay for a new unit that the ac service guy tried to up sale. Went outside and spent 3 seconds vacuuming and a gush of crap came out. Ac runs like a charm. I use this annually now for maintaining.

This was to clear the build up in the AC pipes prior to water damaging the ceiling.

When I bought this, I was skeptical. I live in Florida, where our two a/c units run pretty much all year. Our downstairs unit clogs up about every nine months despite a monthly dose of vinegar. It clogged up again this week and I ordered this in hopes that I wouldn't have to pay for an a/c service call. It was money well spent.

The hoses on this unit were more sturdy than I expected after seeing multiple reviews with broken hoses. We first tried pushing the clog through to no avail. We then hooked it up to the drain end and got to work. It took us more than 30 minutes to clear the line. What ended up doing the trick wasn't slow and steady pumping action but a rapid series of quick pulls on the plunger to maximize the vacuum within the line. The clog finally came out and the line was totally clear. We poured some water through the drain line from inside the house to rinse it out and pulled the liquid all the way through the drain line with the unit. I'll be using this monthly to prevent clogs. Great product!

This thing works! I have an AC unit in the attic and the pan constantly holds water in the summer. We have tried to use the shop vac to make sure the line stays open but, of course, can't seem to get a tight enough seal. I felt like I really got the junk out with this thing. So easy to use, no electricity and so easy to clean! I was really concerned about spending 70.00 on this but I'm glad I did. Perfect!

Works but its not the best to use in tight spaces. Since the pump requires some force to move up and down the floor is the best place to place it, but then you have to worry about the hoses reaching the connection you want on the HVAC unit.
In tight spaces its much easier to use a vacuum since you only have one hose to deal with and no need to pump. I Have not used the pump outdoors since my connections are indoors. Looks to me this pump is more effective in outdoor use. As for cleaning I had no problem cleaning the unit after use. My suggestion to the manufacture is to change the hoses to clear so you can see through. If the hoses were clear that would be ideal in actually seeing what is happening and for cleaning clogs. Maybe even the unit can be see through.
