Well thought out and designed but could require a tweak to get it to fit some ladders.

The product is well designed and attempts to cover all aspects of different sizes of ladder rails. It hits on the main issue Ive had for years and thats going from the ladder to the roof and back again - safely. In that case on my recent ladder purchase, I can attest that these will not work with Little Giant Hyperlite unless slightly modified.
In speaking with Guardian Fall Protection, the design has an interior shim/ clamp which its sole purpose is to allow smaller side rails to be installed and then the clamp tightens to make the contact between the rails and the Safe-T Ladder system rock solid. In my case I found the ladder rails to be as wide as the original opening of the metal c channel found on the Safe-T Ladder System. So once the ladder came in contact with the long metal shim that adjusts for ladder widths, the process almost ground to a halt. I felt that if the internal shim was removed, the width of the ladder would allow for the Safe-T ladder system to remain very stable, seeing the fit was seemingly perfect at the start.
In the end, I wedged mine down a bit further with a dead blow hammer as I needed to get a project started and haven't experienced any shifting or movement since. While not ideal in installation, I would thing it would take two trucks in a pulling contest to separate these from the ladder. Still an excellent product that does what its intended to do.

Have used them now for a full year on my home inspection business easily a couple hundred times

Bought these this time last year. Have used them now for a full year on my home inspection business easily a couple hundred times. Without a doubt this is the best product out there to help with and make safer the getting on and getting off roofs both steep and not. The handles extend above the roof line to allow for a solid grip when doing both directions. No more going around the ladder you go through it. I highly recommend these things.
CON: They do make the ladder a bit top heavy so it does take a bit of getting used to.

A wonderful safety device!

I'm not getting any younger and the prospect of climbing onto and off a roof was a little unnerving. I had first saw these used on a road construction project in our area and thought that might be a good idea. I can tell you first hand that these made all the difference in comfort and confidence of stepping both on and off the roof. These are a safety feature that everyone should have if you are stepping onto or off the top of a ladder. Your life may depend on it.
Great Product Use it 4-6 times a month

I am a professional ladder assist for Insurance carriers across the US. For daily use I would not recommend as it is to heavy and big just to leave on ladder. I use it once every couple of weeks and works perfect. It took me a few times to really trust it but it does make you feel much safer. I tried using it on my 32 ft ladder but it made it to heavy to lift up by myself. It works perfect on 24 foot ladders and below. It actually gives you an additional 3-4 feet. My requires we carry a 28ft ladder and I used my 24 ft with this and worked perfectly. If your like me you like to have your ladder at-least 3 rungs above gutter line so by using this you actually gain 4-7 feet. The only thing I wish they could change is the weight. Each piece is not heavy by no means but 14 lbs times 2 at the end of a ladder is difficult to use by your self. I would pay more for a super light weight set made out of aircraft aluminum around 4-6 lbs each. For a non professional or even a prof I would highly recommend this product as you can ot put a price on your life.
These safety rails are definitely designed for commercial size ladders and not homeowners. See: Update

I bought this on Amazon couple months ago. I'm just opening the box now. It looks very sturdy and is heavy weight. Don't throw away the box because there are no instructions inside...you will have to look at pics on the box. I have a 16 foot extension ladder I bought from one of the big box stores. I slide on the safety rails over my ladder and tighten the screw down. To my surprise these safety rails are so loose and sloppy with no secure fit whatsoever. My ladder is standard size 200 lb. max 16 ft ext ladder "All American" brand. These safety rails are definitely designed for commercial size ladders and not homeowners. I will have to attach some wood or something to my ladder rails to make these things secure.
UPDATE: Well I bought a brand new Werner 16' Extension ladder. The Safe-T rails are 75% better fitting now, because the new ladder rails are about an inch thicker than my old 10 year old ladder. The only problem I have now is the Safe-T rails won't slide down enough for the safety rung latches to latch. Like most ladders my new ladder has plastic caps on the top of the ladder rails that are riveted on about 1/4 inch high. I feel without those plastic caps the Safe-T rails might lock. So I can either tear the plastic caps off or just rely on the twist knobs to keep the Safe-T rails secure on the ladder. So I am adjusting my star rating up to a 4 Star.
