Imagine being in below 0 with windchills. all the blizzards and freezing snow. I live in an apartment so my dog needs to go out to potty and I walk him twice daily, rain or shine....even in blizzards. I put this under my shirts but over my tank tops and they do keep me warm. My only issue is that it sometimes doesn't stick too well so I have to put it on my lower back where my jeans or leggings can hold it in place. I used this when I went snowboarding as well, I brought extra for my friends and they said it was a life saver since we went when there was a frost bite warning. I know it's crazy to go snow boarding out in that kind of weather but there really wasn't anything to do. The enitre box lasted me through the entire winter (which is usually 6 months here). I even wore them to work when our heaters broke down. It was definitely a good buy.

I love these! Especially when I need heat applied to a particular area. Be sure not to apply directly to the skin- it will burn you. Trust me I know. The heat is retained much longer than it says, which is a plus for me. Yes, I recommend this item.

These stay warm a very long time. Definitely longer than 12 hours, usually more like 18 or 20 hours. That part is great. I believe they suggest that you stick them to clothing instead of skin. I stick them directly on my skin for muscle aches and pains and I don't find them to be too hot. I took one star off because the adhesive doesn't last as long as the heat. I've used other brands that I was able to take it the warmer pad off and put it back on and it would stick. Or move it from my back to my arm and it would stick. That's not possible with these and often a little sweat and/or body oils often don't make it possible for the pad to stay stuck in one spot.

Have been using these for a couple of years, they work wonders for period cramps. Don't bother getting the more expensive warmers that are smaller and are marketed toward women. These are the bomb.
