I have a not so intelligent cat that has been known to eat litter so non-clumping litter is essential for us & this by far is the best I found not only does it smell good & does its job but
I can really go a week without changing out he litter if I scoop the poop out once or twice a day & stir the litter (you have to stir the litter or ammonia will start to build up in any wet patches the stirring process helps dry out the litter which makes it last longer) any odor issues I have to spayed female cats & use roughly 7 lb of litter per litterbox.

I prefer non-clumping litter for our multi-cat home, as it absorbs urine quickly and dries pretty fast. There's little odor as long as I remove the poop as it appears. A couple times a week I'll clean it out and give the box a rinse before refilling it. This has worked out great for many years now. Usually I'd purchase this from my local market but this market has real issues with restocking so I've started buying from Amazon instead. Just fine with me having it delivered to my door!

This is the good old reliable original Fresh Step cat littler. There are nee Fresh Step choices, but I haven't found them satisfactory. Some track out of the litter box. Others stick to cat paws. I was surprised when the package arrived in a Walmart box.

non-clumping is my preferred litter, and Fresh Step is much better than an off brand or Tidy Cats in reducing odor. I like that when the litter loses its "blue" colored crystals, it's time to change the litter (i dump & refill about once a week). non-clumping litter doesn't glue to the box, it absorbs urine without creating "urine chunks" that disintegrate and do not hold together like clumping litter. every commercial for clumping litter shows those perfect clumps but the reality is that cats often urinate on the inner walls of the box, so it's not as if the urine is only always surrounded by the litter.
