Works like a charm.

I installed this at the junction point of the feed manifold from my boiler to all the zones in my house, a direct replacement of a failed automatic bleed valve.

This Taco 400-4 works like a charm. Upon refilling of the system, it immediately started hissing, which is good. Overall it took about 20 minutes to purge all the air out of the system. Very impressed.

The material, construction and heft of this Taco 400-4 is quite good.
Junk. Use this instead...

I have really bad water (chlorine), and I go through a lot of these. They plug up and/or fail quickly, and I've had faulty ones right out of the box. I recommend the Watts FV-4M1. The Watts work better and last much longer, they're just hard to find and cost a few bucks more.
No more gurgling sounds from my radiators!

I felt compelled to write a review for this float vent. This new float vent replaced an old generic float vent ontop of my hydronic cast-iron boiler. I recall buying the old float vent from your typical home improvement chain store about 6 yrs ago. For the past few years I have been constantly trying to purge air out of my boiler system. I recall spending at least 1 and a half hours a week trying to purge out air from all of my 3 zones from their spigot valves. No matter how hard I tried, no matter how many times I completely purged my whole boiler system with a new stream of air-free water, the air bubbles still came back eventually. After I replaced the old float vent with this new 1 I bought from Amazon, I re-pressurized my boiler system and turned on all zones on my boiler system to test this new float vent. I immediately heard "hiss""hiss" "hissssss" coming from this new float vent to my amazement. It was removing air instantly. It took about 25 minutes for this new float vent to completely rid of all the air in my system. I am completely satisfied with this product. I don't have to purge out air from my boiler system ever again! No more gurgling sounds from my radiators!
Hope to get another 28 yrs out of it like the old one

These things don't last forever but it's working so far. Minerals in the water cause them to leak after a while.
