If you have a Marantz pre-amp and are on the fence with this amplifier, buy it now. Yes there are cheeper out there but why do that to your system. My sound, movies and music, are night and day better now then my previous setup. It's amazing actually, wish I would have done it years ago.

Marantz is well known in the UK for CD players and budget integrated amplifiers, but less well known for the AVRs and higher end amplification. I had already gambled on buying the Marantz SR7010 which turned out to be the greatest AVR bargain I could have bought with sensational sound quality and fantastically well equipped. However, I decided to go all the way and install a 13.2 surround system (9.2.4 ie:- FL,FR,C,RL,RR,SBL,SBR, FHL,FHR,RHL,RHR,Width/VOG {aura 3d} plus 2 SWs ), but I also wanted to bi-amp my front speakers. To this end, I bought the MM7055, 4 of its channels drive the front speakers and the other channel drives the centre ( bi-wired ). I also use a 14 year old Pioneer VSX-10 to drive the width channels ( eventually VOG channel ).
To say this has proved successful would be an understatement, the SR7010 sound quality is superb, however, inserting the MM7055 has produced greater poise, power ( especially bass impact ) and control to an already terrific audio performance. The only very slight trade off is the SR7010 might be a touch more delicate allowing more subtle low level detail through in stereo. This I can live with, because there's an improved transient performance which means a faster sound. Cymbals sound crisper, drums are snappier and the bass more potent with excellent definition. The 3 channels in surround sound mode are slightly clearer and dynamic - overall a worthwhile improvement. Although, I have no Dolby Atmos/DTS X or Aura-3d material, the 9.2.4 system is already a revelation. The height channels add another dimension to the surround sound effects which I'm now addicted too.
Any owners of the SR7010 and want to realise it full surround sound capability plus significantly improve its 2 channel performance, should consider adding the MM7055. It will improve upon an already superb AVR.

The power amp is everything I hoped for. The sound is great and and this unit looks awesome in my stereo cabinet. The tracking information provided during shipment was very helpful and the unit arrived on schedule.
