I've never used these before and always just went with helicoils because I thought those were easier. The instructions make it sound like these are difficult but it's actually very easy and somewhat foolproof, unlike helicoils which can be pretty finicky and you always worry about them coming loose.

Used to repair transmission drain plug threads on 2007 Harley Davidson Softail. This was done by removing the shocks and having the bike high enough to use a hand drill. I did build a wooden fixture to help drill the hole true. the drill bit and taps were greased to help catch all metal shavings. The kit is the best solution for this repair. Take your time and you will be pleased with the results.
Definitely a great option, besides a new pan.

Bit pricey, but, BUT! IT HAS DONE ITS JOB! I had a drain plug issue, it stripped up to double oversize possibly age, corrosion, super man changed the oil who knows! Anyway this kit tapped right in and so far the timesert portion is pretty flawless. Only reason it's not 5 star is that all 5 thread inserts were not pass through. I had to modify the futo valve because it extended out 3 threads and that's to much of a space to fill with rtv or multiple washers. Other than that its solid. I bought the 1/2 20 kit for my pan on a 1967 Chrysler Newport
