It was as expected (I am a photographer)

I read the reviews in advance, so I knew that there would be a problem with the corner shadowing effect with this lens. The lens is CHEAP! You get what you pay for. I knew this going into it.

I played around with it, pulling back on the lens to see how wide I could make it without getting the shadow effect, yet still notice a difference compared to my 18-55mm lens on my Canon T2 that I use most of the time (using these two lenses together). I used it in a controlled room, and YES, I was still able to expand the width and height of the room by a good margin.

So, for less than $15, versus much, much more, I have a CHEAP way of expanding an area for my outdoor landscapes and my interior shots. Those who complain about it should just go spend $100 or more. What is their final use anyway? I am a professional photographer, and for the most part, this lens (by knowing how to manipulate it) will work just fine.
Macro lens adaptor is good so far

So far this lens seems to be a good cheap option for people who want to dip their toes in macro photography. I had no idea how to use it (am new to macro photography, which is why I bought this instead of a really expensive lens) but after playing around with it a bit, I was able to get really cool sharp shots. What I didn't realize at first was that macro is no joke - you need to be within a couple of inches of your subject in order to bring it into focus; otherwise it's all a blurry mess. I was trying to take pictures from 6-12 inches away and that was way too far - once I moved in really close, I was able to get good stuff. Also, I am using this on an 18-55mm kit lens for my Canon Rebel t3i, and what wound up working for me was to turn off autofocus altogether (using the switch on my 18-55 lens) and just manually focus the shot. I have not tried the wide angle piece yet but will update when I do.
Great addition to your camera bag. Not perfect, but a perfect value.

I ordered this lens specifically for an event that I have photographed for the last four years...the NC Legislative Breakfast for Mental Health. This event includes a panel of state legislators and officials, and the table is often 30 feet long. Even standing at the back of the room, I've never been able to get them all in one shot (I always did multiple pan type shots and then Photoshopped them together...which is a huge pain in the butt.

While you can see there is some vignetting when you are zoomed out all the way, this lens allowed me to take wide angle shots that I would have otherwise missed. I shoot with a Canon T2i and consider myself an amateur. I photograph non-profit events on a volunteer basis and have done weddings / baby shoots / senior pictures for friends. I also used this lens to shoot a video for a Julliard saxaphone audition so I could get everything in the shot.

Is it perfect? No. The shots aren't as crisp as I'd like and there was some trouble with focusing. But for the price you pay, this is a valuable addition to your camera bag.
Great item for starters!

I am looking to get into Macro photography after years of mostly taking scenery shots. I've been waiting years to get into this. I have to say, this is a nice little intro piece if you're looking to test the waters. It screws right onto your stock lens, which is fantastic. I did notice that the photos will have blacked out corners if you're using the wide angle feature, but I can live with it.

The macro feature, which is why I purchased this piece, it pretty stellar as a starter. The fact I can use it on my regular lens means I can still access all of my manual settings, which as been great! A couple of test stocks and I've been very impressed. Between this and a few other purchases I think I will be saving to buy some Macro lenses.

I use a Canon Rebel T3i. This lens attached perfectly well to my 18-55 and 55-250mm lenses.

It came packed in a small box inside a regular bubble envelope. I was worried that since we just had a minor blizzard here in Maine that the cold would harm the lens. But after removing it from the packaging, checking it out, letting it come to room temperature and then testing it, it worked fine. I'm actually really impressed. This is a sturdy little item.
Great for the money!

I bought this lens to try. At first I didn't think it gave me much more wide view. Then when I held it up to my lens, and then removed it all while still looking through it I noticed a big difference! It's not a real wide angel lens no. But does this lens give you some extra depth of field in tight spaces. Yes. There is some slight distortion on the edges. But not to much I dislike the lens or am not happy with it. I found you can hide this by using a lower aperture, and focusing right on the middle. The lens works better on manual focus.

The macro lens is fun! I really enjoy macro photography. And this little lens (for the money) is a lot of fun! Espically when at this time I don't have $300 for a good macro lens. This one does a good job. It too has distortion in the edges why my 4 star rating. So be sure to focus on the very middle of your subject. Focus manually, and move the camera vs. the lens in and out.

So all in all for the money this lens was well worth the money! It does work best on my Canon 18-55mm lens. Very good lens for amateur photographers, and people just getting started with little cash to spend.
