Perfect for our a small 5 ft Christmas tree.

This Kurt Adler 6 1/4 inch Gold Wire Star Tree Topper is absolutely beautiful. (see customer images 2 and 3 and my accompanying notes). It is glittered all over but not over-done. It has beautiful intricate cut-out work in the lace that is so unique and adds to the interest of the star. The cut-out in the lace allowed me to wind a single yellow light into the center of the topper to add just a little illumination from inside the star. I was able to put it on the spire of the tree, and got it to stand perfectly, with very little effort. The topper is finished identically on both sides so can be viewed from any angle.

If you are looking for an elegant, refined tree topper this Kurt Adler design is the one for you! And the price was fantastic at $6.99. As long as the 6 1/4" size is sufficient for your tree, I guarantee you will not regret this purchase.

I bought a filigree-type star at Target a few years ago for the top of my artificial tree, but while it was pretty, it was also heavy, and constantly listed to one side or another no matter what I did to add support and keep it standing straight - including bending the top spire of the tree backward over the coil (for balance) and hooking it under another branch (for support). Furthermore, the tree looked top-heavy with it in addition to lopsided. I knew I was going to have to find another one.

This year, I went browsing on Amazon for a pretty star that might be lighter than my metal flat-filigree star. I hit upon this one, read some reviews, and bought it on a lark (it was the holidays after all). I'm so very glad I did.

First, don't be fooled by the picture up there: it makes the star look like solid bronze-colored base with some gold glitter swirls. In person, this star is so pretty and delicate. I have a thing for the filigree look, and this star is airy gold mesh with beautiful gold glitter swirls that look so delicate and intricate and catch the light perfectly. It's also very lightweight and took no effort to perch it up on top of the tree. The mesh also keeps it from looking too heavy up there, so it complements without distracting.

The ONLY reason it loses a star (ooh, punny; sorry) is the glitter. While I love the sparkle, I don't love the coating of everything else in the Christmas box with it. I have the same problem with ornaments, for what it's worth, though I still buy them because, well, sparkly! The coil is entirely coated in the glitter and every edge has a line of glitter running across it. Still love my star, just don't love the sharing.

I was going bonkers trying to find a star for my small'ish tree (not very small but just about I'd say 4.5'. I spent hours looking at different styles, kept coming back to this one, needed one with an expanding bottom, because nothing could sit on the top branch of the tree, but I kept thinking I want something that lights up. I am SO HAPPY that I went with this instead. It's perfect. And if it would have lit up it would have absolutely been "too much." It's made very well, adjustable to get it to fit the top, really pretty design and I couldn't be happier.
