LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!! I shopped for some time before settling on this unit. It takes a bit of an adjustment to get it to the consistency that you like, but "you" is the operative word here because this can be a matter of personal taste. It will give you a shave from a bit icy to snow. We like the snow feel. We tried to freeze ice in a yogurt container, but without success. Not to say someone else can't get it right, we just were not successful. You cannot have any cracks in your ice, it will break and it must be even or it will not hold. We ended up buying ice and just keep a couple in the freezer. One block gave us enough ice for 23 people and we still had ice left over. So for us, a good investment. Easy to clean and set up. However, be aware that this should be on its own outlet.
This is as close to what you get as shaved ice in Hawaii as we have ever had and that was what we were looking for. With 18 grandchildren, we bought this as a family gift. The grandchildren bring their friends here to hang out just like their parents before them. It keeps us young (I think) or maybe we are just over the hill far enough to not know when we aren't having fun any more. Which also has its own benefits. Either way, this has been a great addition and is very much enjoyed!

Professional Quality Shaved Ice!

My wife told me I was crazy for spending $200+ on this machine. Now, she is just as obsessed with the thing as I am! If I could give it 10 stars, I would.
This machine is simply amazing! You will not find anything even close to this machine at this price point. For a minute, let's forget the incredible price and talk results. Once you get the hang of adjusting the blade height, you'll be making professional quality shaved ice in no time! Using ice blocks made by freezing water in some dollar store Tupperware I routinely get finely shaved ice that can stand side by side with any shaved ice stand that I've ever been to (with machines 5x the price). The only thing I would suggest, like many other reviewers here, is that you purchase a basic foot pedal. It will make your life much easier and your shave much more consistent. Now, even in the winter when all of the stands are closed, we are still enjoying our shaved ice on a daily basis! Buy this machine!

BROKE DOWN WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF OPERATION

This product broke down on us today. We've only had it since late June and didn't start using it until 2 weeks ago. As luck would have it, the return window closed. Up until that moment, it was working fine. BUYER BEWARE!
