Would not start.
Waste of time despite following the directions.
Starts fine...just don't follow the directions....

I think one star is a little too harsh. Yes, mine would not start initially despite (almost) following the directions. Then I discovered that I had not turned on the RUN switch. Duh! So I let it sit a while to unflood. Then I tried again with the RUN swith on, and it did not start. I then tied a piece of wire around the throttle handle to hold it fully open. I left the choke open, pulled it smartly about ten times and it sputtered to life, then began running fast. I quickly picked it up by the handle so the tines could turn and closed the choke just a little bit. Took the wire off the throttle handle so it could return to idle, and let it idle for about two minutes. Then went to work.

I think the starting directions were written by products liability lawyers whose objetive was to make sure you don't injure yourself, not to make it easy to start. I left the wire wrapped around the tubing and now use it on the throttle handle whenever I start it. Having the throttle open definitely improves the ease of starting, though be sure to keep your feet and hands away from the tines when it first starts running. AND DON"T USE THIS WITHOUT SHOES, however you start it!

Otherwise this thing is easily assembled, runs and works like a champ and tears up soil really well. In fact if you are using it on soft garden soil to work in nutrients, etc., be prepared, because it really pulverizes and mixes the elements. BTW, bought mine from a Big Box hardware store. Amazon prices are better, however...but wife needed this right away. So plan ahead and shop around....says the Scotsman.
Piece of s***!!! Had it one day ...

Piece of s***!!! Had it one day and could not get it started. Took it back to where we bought it, they had a hard time starting it. We are following all directions, it is not flooded. Takes us at least 10 pulls - following all directions and the only way we can get it started is to not follow the directions and press the tine handle. The directions say specifically not to do that. The repair shop said that was the only way they could get it started. Look for a different cultivator - I miss my old Sears model that finally died after many years of faithful service. They no longer make it, or that's the one I would have again
