Our family (3 kids ages 8, 6 & 4) love this game! It is easy to learn, fun, competitive in a nice way and doesn't take hours to complete. Our 4yr old was gifted the game & the whole family was able to sit down & play right away (sharing one of the caterpillars as we had 5 people, but it only has 4 caterpillar pieces). While the 4yr old definitely enjoyed playing, I felt our 6yr old seemed to enjoy it the most. The butterfly pieces are straight from Eric Carle's artwork and the little caterpillar game pieces are cute. Everything stores nicely in the box. However you may want to use a sandwich bag for the pieces once you've opened the game so as not to lose any. We enjoyed this so much we gifted it to another 4yr old for her birthday.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 3 year old. We've only played it once because he's not quite ready for it yet. He's not at the point where he has the patience to take turns, follow instructions, etc. for the whole game. I think it's a really cute game though and I like that it is more of a traditional structured board game, even though it is pretty simple, and feel like he will be at a stage to enjoy it fairly soon. I also like that someone can win, it's not one of those cooperative games, so my kid can learn he won't win everything every time. I'll just stick it in the closet and pull it out in a few months and it will be like a new present all over again.

You pick a card (check), it tells you how many spaces you can go (check), you pick up a puzzle piece (check), and then you put a butterfly puzzle together (huh?). For my 3.5 year old granddaughter, it was too many steps, especially since each puzzle, made up of 5 pieces, was a different color combination. It's pretty straightforward up till then, but I think the preschool mind just fries out on too many steps. Otherwise, it's colorful, and the kids love the little caterpillar game pieces.

Such a great easy game for littles. I run an at home day care and I have a 3 and 7 year old. We all love board games. This is a great little game to add to your collection. It's perfect for little kids who need easy rules to keep interested and for a tad older who just enjoying playing.
