MaxFan Deluxe - Great Fan, Poorly Implemented Remote
Amazon Customer•April 16, 2018
I like 90% of this fan. I gave it a one star review so people would be drawn to this review and be aware of the remote issue prior
to buying. Was easy to install. Took me about an hour. I have a new Travel Trailer, so the sealer was new and came off
easily. The fan really sucks, but in a good way for a fan. At 100%, I can feel a slight breeze flowing the length of the TT.
Haven't had rain, yet. So don't know how well its hood keeps out the rain.
The only reason for the 1 star if the remote. My wife and I had visions of going to bed with the fan cooling the trailer until that time
in the early morning when you realize its too cool and you have to get up to turn off the fan. Our "vision" was to just grab the remote
and turn the fan off without getting up. Unfortunately, the remote is an IR remote. You have to have line of sight to the sensor. The
sensor is on the fans control panel, which is about six inches higher than the ceiling line. So, you have to be standing DIRECTLY
under the fan for the remote to work.
Maxxair should be using a radio frequency remote.
So, if the reason you are buying this model fan is the remote. Or, the remote factors in your decision, keep this in mind. You have
to be standing directly under fan for remote to work.

Amazon did step up and send a replacement but the fact that I was laughed at by Maxxair on the phone was not a good feeling.

There is no warranty from the manufacturer if you buy here on amazon. We found out the hard way when our failed 2500 miles from home 2 weeks after we bought it. Amazon did step up and send a replacement but the fact that I was laughed at by Maxxair on the phone was not a good feeling.
No manufacturers warranty for Amazon customers!

Fan worked well until, as other reviewers have posted, the fan dies. Getting support from the manufacturer is very difficult and when I actually did speak to a rep he told me they don't warranty units purchased from Amazon! Now the fan is useless even as a vent because the PC board is malfuntioning. The company wants to charge nearly $40 for a new board that will have the same problems eventually. Wow, $250 not well spent! If you get this fan plan on spending an additional $40 a year to replace the PC board.
A somewhat mixed bag.

I'm going to agree with others that have posted here. It's a great fan with some rather major flaws.
First, the remote is great in concept, but poor in execution. For whatever cost-saving reason, MaxxFan decided to go with an infrared remote that requires true line of site to function. That means that unless the remote is mounted directly under the fan, you're going to have a difficult time using the automatic function. That's a major reason for my purchase. The should have used RF.
Second, I've not (as of yet) discovered a way to leave the cover open. Why would you want to do this? Well, if you're sleeping and it starts to get too hot, you're going to have to listen to the cover open and close. Let me tell you, it's not a quiet process in the least.
Third, living in Oregon I'm definitely concerned with how long the control board is going to last. It's conspicuously placed completely unprotected near the fan intake. This means that if you're using it on a foggy morning, you may eventually fry it. There are a number of reports of this happening.
Fourth and final consideration. It's not as quiet as I'd expected when above 50%. Some have reported harmonic issues, and I can see why. When spinning, the fan seems slightly off balance. I suspect that through years of use, this will shorten the life of the motor.
Installation was fairly straightforward. I'll update the review as I use the 7000k more.

So far, great product!

Bought this for my cargo van, in hopes to aid with air flow for my dogs when they ride with me on trips. I deliberately waited to post a review until I could use this a couple times to see how it works. It's running off an aux. marine deep cycle battery. The fan is being used as I write this to vent the van and I am very happy with it's operation. So far it's very quiet, moves more than enough air, (obviously because of the smaller area vs. an RV). Installation was straight forward and surprisingly simple. So far I REALLY like this fan, my only concern, and the reason for the four star rating, is that the lid binds a bit when going up and down. I'm still debating on using lubricant on it as they warn against using certain chemicals on the plastic that may cause it to crack in time.
