Annoying A/C Hum!!!!
Darrell✓ Verified Purchase•July 6, 2017
Mine arrived today. Has an annoying hum from the face plate. Searching on line says it's a 60z AC hum from the blue face plate. Also says Galaxy is aware and recommends disconnecting an internal connector, which means you loose your channel and freq digits too. Really? They can't fix that at the factory? Also states that it's louder in some radios than others. I really love the look of this radio. Switching to "PA" turns off the face plate and the hum goes away. Trying to decide if I should order another to see if it's still there, or maybe quieter, or go with something else. Bummer :-(
Nice radio. Quality control is an issue

Nice radio. Quality control is an issue. Radio needed aligning. My radio had a very choppy and distorted receive when driving. Turned out to be a cold solder joint on the antenna wire on the SO-239 on the inside of the radio. Takes about 10 minute to warm up to use on SSB. Having said that it has a very sensitive receiver and good audio.

Get great reports on am and ssb

Put the radio in my truck with a 102" whip and ball mount. Using the factory mic that came with it. Get great reports on am. Everyone says its loud and clear. 6-8 miles usually loud and clear any day or night. Best so far was 17 miles mid day. Love the back lit faceplate. Ssb works great. Only reason I gave it a 4 is because the built in swr meter is a liar. Says I'm at 2.5 on all channels. Spent a lot of time monkeying with my coax and antenna setup just to figure it had to be a meter issue. Finally got an external swr meter. Which says I'm 1:1-1:3 across the range. 3Eleven Florida catch you on the airwaves
Update: When conditions are right I've shot skip from my driveway in Orlando with the way the radio came. No golden screw driver or amp. Hit Nc Tn and Mississppi like it was next door.

This is a great CB. The side band is picking up transmissions approximately 1500 miles away. Highly recommend.
