I doesn't go smoothly in the one direction, it seems to " clump ", the ribbon is pretty, and being a natural product, I know " quality control " is not what you look for when it comes to one sounding exactly like the other.. that's the beauty of it

I was worried this was a bad purchase based on other reviews, but that isn't the case. It's plenty long enough to make the "rain" noise, you just have to tip it slowly. It is shorter than other options, but I don't think the size hinders the performance of the product. My two and five year old both like it and can handle it fine. Ours also didn't have any sharp parts that needed filing, maybe we got lucky or maybe they've fixed this issue. Overall I'm happy with it. Great authentic rain stick!
