Counterfeit received instead...thanks Amazon

One of the better performing lights out there...if it works.

UPDATE: This product is a counterfeit. I've attached photos. I'm changing this review to 5 stars simply to reflect that it is not the PDW model that is the problem. I can not post a negative review for another product against them.

Negatives:
Purchased in 2015, it no longer functions in 2017. It looks fine with no visible defects. No battery leaks, so I'm baffled as to why it has ceased to function. Not worth the current $30 it is valued at when reliability is taken into account.

Positives:
Very bright and visible for quite a distance and at reasonable angles. I used the solid function at night and the blinking setting during the day and had no issues with visibility during either. I purchased this on sale at $15.68 and feel it was well worth the price considering the issues I'm having. If it was still at this price, I would buy two more and give it a second shot.
Counterfeit product...beware

I ordered this item through Amazon as usual and after a few uses, it started to fail. Within a few minutes of turning it on, the light would go into a sort of 'quiver' mode where it would just faintly blink fast and constantly, nothing like it is designed to do, and would not turn off with the switch. I contacted Portland Design Works, the supposed maker of the light and after sending some photos of it to them, they determined it was a counterfeit unit and not made by them, but was a Chinese knockoff. I tried to return it to Amazon, but I had been gone on an extended trip after purchasing it and the 3 month return window had closed. It seemed to work when I first received it and then I did not use it for a couple of months. I tried returning it through the Amazon A-Z program but could not get any response. PDW makes excellent products, so I would recommend ordering from them direct as Amazon may have a backlog of these counterfeit units in stock.
Good overall light.

It's bright in the dark. Run on 2 AA battery (I wish they make the light a little bigger to run on AA batteries). However, it is made of thin plastic. You have to handle it with careful, don't drop it on concrete floor or else it might break at the weak points. I wish it was made of thicker plastic. It comes with 1 rubber band that wrap to the bicycle seat post and the clip on bracket. Again, thin clip bracket, so handle it with care. I wish they will improve the design with thicker plastic, and thicker weather seal.

Update 9/3/2015 Buyer Beware. Seller "Suener" from Las Vegas, NV sold fake PWD fulfilled by Aamazon. The real light is sold by Amazon.
I assume there's a colony of these somewhere out there.

As other reviewers have stated, this light is awesome"”looks great, functions even better"”until you inevitably lose it. My daily commute is 15 miles roundtrip in Duluth, MN on a mix of hilly road and gravel trails. Some of the roads here are in rough shape, and the gravel trails are bumpy, as you'd expect trails to be. I ride a singlespeed with a coaster brake, so it's not like I'm jumping anything or riding aggressively.

Today was the sixth day I'd had the light mounted on my seat post. Lo and behold, when I arrived to work this morning and went to turn it off, it was gone. This seems to be a fundamental flaw with the mounting system, so it's disconcerting that Portland Design Works has done nothing about it. I love the light, but I'm not going to spend another $20-$30 on something that WILL disappear.
Much disappointment.
Do not make my mistake. AVOID this product"”it's perfect, but it WILL leave you.

Tl;dr: this is basically the Kurt Cobain of bike taillights.
BUYER BEWARE - I recieved a knock off "Raypal"

I was lead to believe this is a genuine Portland Design Works product... But I got a cheap knockoff. The tail light looks exactly the same but it does feel very light and plasticky. It is also missing a nut so I can't even screw the clamp onto my bike...

I am reaching out to the seller so we'll see how it goes.
