My kitchen lacks a dishwasher, so I hand wash my dishes. I normally use Scotch Brite sponges. They are durable sponges and last long. Â I replace them every month or earlier for sanitary purposes. Â
The scrubber side works well for stubborn food and doesn't scratch.  They clean variety of dishes and surfaces including ovens and countertops. I keep an old sponge for cleaning my garbage can, spills on floor, shoes and more.Rinse and wring out water after using or they will smell unpleasant.Sanitize by boiling or by placing in the dishwasher. Â

Does a Great Job Cleaning

We have been buying these sponges for a long time. They really are non-scratch and do a great job of getting stuck on food off of our dishes. We buy them in bulk because I hate the smell of old sponges and because it's much cheaper than realizing you need a new sponge, running to the grocery store, and spending two times as much is necessary on one sponge and then repeating that process week after week. These sponges are cost-efficient and hold up fairly well, even with my husband using them so vigorously it's like he is attacking our dishes for daring to be used. Definitely a great value and something we will continue to buy.
Poor quality sponges

I've been buying these Scotch-Brite sponges from Amazon.com for years. Something has definitely changed in the quality of these sponges in my two recent orders. In a prior order, the sponges were wet when I took them out of their packaging and when placed in the dish water in the sink, there was blue dye that came out of them with a funky smell. The order I recently received, the texture of the sponges was totally different from the usual Scotch-Brite brand. The sponges are much thinner also. I'm very leery of buying any more of this type of sponge through Amazon in the future as it seems these are knock-off sponges. I don't like them at all.
Counterfeits in the Supply Chain?

To be clear: The legitimate version of this product is great.
These sponges came damp and had a horrible chemical smell. The product did not match the stated dimensions, and there were clear differences when compared with the same product from a trusted reseller (Target). This was driving me crazy so I bought more from Target and they did not come damp, nor have a chemical smell. You can see visible differences between the two products.
I'd guess counterfeits were worked in to the supply chain and by luck of the draw some folks get the real product and others get the counterfeits.

These are my favorite sponges. This style anyway. Whenever Costco puts their big pack of them on sale from time to time, I always buy a pack. However, since we're only in our current place for a short time, I didn't need a big pack of them. I ordered these from Amazon instead. These were very close to the ones I always get.......EXCEPT that these had a weird habit of the top scrubby part pulling away from the sponge part on the bottom. It is annoying & frankly, it's a little gross b/c I keep imagining things getting stuck in between there. Blech. I'm not a germophobe, but that grosses me out. So, these may be okay, but for my money, I'll get the big pack at Costco the next time they put out a coupon for them.
