Functional Value, Not Perfect

Does what I needed it to do, with some extra effort. I am storing 3 bikes (2 adult, 1 child) and with the extra room a double stroller on the rack. Construction of the bar is solid enough and install was easy. It took me another 10 minutes as the instructions say the outside brackets can be installed in any orientation, which I found to be false. If both are positioned with the 90-degree on the outside, the bar will shift and fall to the floor. So, orient with at least 1 of the brackets to the 'inside'. On my first attempt to mount a bike, I experienced what other reviewers have noted in the shifting/sliding of the hooks. To solve, I positioned the hooks (I only used 4) where I wanted them on the bar, then installed zip ties on each side to prevent them from sliding. This has done the job.
This was the best value for a vertical bike storage solution I could find for my garage. In all, it took some learning to install and modify in order to securely position the bikes. I could only use 4 of the hooks, and still find it rather difficult to put-up/take-down the bicycles. When there is an 'open' position between hooks, my bikes will slide off the hooks a bit until repositioned, but not to the level where I am concerned they will fall off the rack. I would recommend this rack if you are looking for something affordable with a professional appearance. If you are looking strictly for function and on a budget, you could get the same or better results for much less by installing individual hooks on your studs. Overall, this works for me and I am satisfied with the purchase.

Works great, holds 3-4 adult bikes

Easy to install on the wall in our garage. It came with 6 hooks, but it would be really hard to hang 6 adult bikes unless you were alternating hanging by the front and back wheels. We also have a bike with a baby seat that takes up a lot of space, so we were able to get 3 adult and one child bike hung up on it.
HUGE space saver in our garage, it has been a game changer for keeping things tidy during bike season.

Great Product, but not for everyone.

This is a terrific product: quality materials and quality workmanship. There are a number of adverse reviews of it, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why people are having trouble -- except that perhaps they can't be bothered to install it correctly or take the time to make sure it is well positioned. Properly hung, with the proper spacing from the wall, the weight of the bike holds the longer lip of the clamp and the whole top side of the clamp firmly against the bar. Manhandle ours as we may, we can't make a clip fall off with a bike on it. You CAN pop the hook off if you hit it from underneath while hanging the bike, but not with the weight of the bike on it. Near as I can guess, people aren't really getting the hook clamps solidly snapped into place. And yes, I will admit that if you're straining to hold the bike up and are basically making a lunge for the clip to hang the bike off of it, you're going to have trouble, but if you firmly hold the bike and gently hang it, you won't have any issues. We have 5 bikes on ours, and are able to space them so that each is easily removable without disturbing the ones on either side. The one criticism of this hardware that I'll accept as valid is the inclusion of standard slotted lag screws. They really should be Phillips or torx heads. All in all, a great storage solution, and much cheaper than the one I was planning to build.
Quick and easy!

I gave this item 5 stars for the following reasons. Even the negatives stated below were not worth a star deduction.
1. I am Amazon Prime member. Ordered on Thursday and expected delivery on Saturday. It actually arrived on Friday.
2. I was able to install the item in the advertised 15 minutes without rushing.
3. I was able to hang 6 bikes with no problem as long as you alternate the direction of the bikes.
4. Quality was fine. Nice powder coat finish.
5. The hangers move whenever you hang a bike. This is no biggie. Once I finally decide where I want them permanently, I will use some sort of clamping system to prevent movement. A zip tie may even work.
6 I would not hang a high end road bike with light weight wheels from this rack as I do not like the pressure the hangers put on the wheels. The angle just makes me feel uncomfortable.
7. Be careful when deciding on the height. I put the bar 8 feet off the ground. I can hang the bikes easily at that height and I can still put something under them (including the front end of a car; not an SUV).
8. It could be a small challenge to get the middle bikes if you hang 6 bikes. Easy to access all the bikes if you only hang 4 bikes. The actual bar length is 51" but only 48" are usable. An extra foot would have been nice, even 6".
So there you have it in a nutshell.

Great storage rack featuring easy installation and somewhat easy usage on-going

I should start by saying that I love this bike rack. It performs as advertised and let us reclaim much needed garage space by hanging our six bikes up against the wall.
Installation:
The directions weren't the clearest you'll ever receive but truthfully you could install this without even glancing at the instructions. You'll likely need a ladder and an assistant but with both you should be able to get this rack mounted to your wall in about 30 minutes or less.
On-going usage:
I don't have too much trouble getting the bikes up and down from the rack but keep in mind that if you're considering this rack (and this may seem obvious) but you need to lift and hold the bikes you'll be storing. So if you have heavy bikes or aren't able to lift them straight up in the air, consider an alternative storage system. That being said, assuming you're able to lift your bikes and hold them steady as you get the wheels locked onto the wheel racks that slide along the crossbar, you should have no trouble using this rack.
My only complaint regarding this rack and the reason for deducting one star is that the wheel locks that slide along the rack's crossbar tend to slip and slide (horizontally) while trying to get the wheels locked in place. This can be frustrating and can result in it taking a few tries per bike when getting them back into storage. I wish Monkey Bar had thought of including a way to tighten the wheel locks in place along the crossbar.
I should note, however, that once you have a bike hooked onto the lock on the rack, it is VERY stable and secure. I've never had any issue with a bike crashing down or becoming loose once I hooked it onto the rack.
Final analysis:
All in all a great bike rack that performs as advertised. I do wish they had included one additional design feature but that's almost quibbling. I would HIGHLY recommend this product for anyone in need of such a method of storing bikes.
