My wife loves it!
Kevin G. McCoy✓ Verified Purchase•September 14, 2017
My wife has pretty much stopped using our glass-top electric range in favor of the induction cooker. She loves the timer feature that shuts off cooking instantly when the timer runs out. I am not sure the temperature setting works very accurately, but that is not a deal breaker. Both of us wish there were more power settings, but we can manage. This is a fabulous, low cost introduction to induction cooking and has convinced us to get rid of our glass-top range. The unit's cooling fan, while noticeable, is quieter than our semi-pro range hood fan. The only downside is that not all of our pans are compatible with induction. The funny thing is that all of our cheap pans work great on induction. Our frou-frou pans are hit and miss when it comes to induction. Induction heating does not work on (expensive) non-magnetic 18/10 stainless or aluminum. It does work on stainless that is magnetic -look for the Induction label when shopping for pans. Cast Iron works great. Allclad (uber expensive!) works great. Many cheapie pans from Target or Wal-Mart work fine.
Faster than my gas stove by half!

Induction burners use magnetic force to get the food in your pot to cook, so it looks troublesome that the burner says it will remain hot after you remove the pot and that you shouldn't put it on a metal surface in case it heats that! It's fine, though. The surface is warm to the touch on the burner surface after the pot is removed, but it wouldn't burn you. The surrounding surface isn't hot at all. It will overheat an empty pot, but has a clear error code for that and a safety that turns the burner off if you should happen to do that. It also has an error code for the fry pan that came with the stainless set but isn't magnetic. This thing heats super fast; it heats my morning water in half the time it takes on my gas stove.
Bought for RV, but use in home kitchen now!

I bought this for our travel trailer, thinking it would be great to use outside the trailer when we didn't want to use the gas stove inside. We already have a small table for outside use with a toaster oven, and this seemed to be a natural addition.
BUT, first I had to try it out in our home kitchen to see how it worked. Well, it works fabulously! Boils water super fast, and doesn't heat up our kitchen the way our big Thermador gas range does. Summertime in TX is NOT when you want to make extra heat in the house. So, I'm using it now when I want to make pasta, rice or other meals that require significant heat; and not heating our kitchen and house excessively in the process.
We have a mixture of cast iron, All-clad SS, and a few copper pieces; this works perfectly with the All-clad and the cast iron, and I can save the copper for cooler months.
So, for now, this unit stays in the box; ready to deploy in our home kitchen. I guess I'll take it on our next road trip with the trailer!

Absolutely love this

I absolutely love it. I have been using it almost regularly for close to three months now, so much so that I exclusively use this and not my regular 4 burner range. It took some time for me to get used to understand the difference between being able to choose the power level vs. the temperature but now I know that being able to choose which one works better with a given recipe. The auto-shut off timer is the best thing that makes sure I will never overcook or burn anything. If I need to step away, I simply set the timer and know that the stove will turn itself off - and I can resume cooking if needed when I am back. On the downside: I wish it didn't make so much noise and the electric cord was better quality (more flexible), but I am not deducting any points for this - eventually this will add to the price and you get what you pay for. For the price I paid - this is a five star product.
We love eating steak

I wish I had come across this sooner. We love eating steak, but I don't have an exhaust in my kitchen and the entire house would stink up and fire alarms would sometimes be set off. We would order or go out for steak. Cost us too much. Came across this and decided to go give it a try. It heats up soooo fast and the heat setting is easy to figure out. Now we cook it outside, and wipe it down when we're done! Oops down in like ten minutes and it's put away. Doesn't take much space at all. I keep it in the box for storage. I did have to buy a special pan for it, which I also got on amazon and it's awesome - Stone Earth Frying Pan-freaking simple to clean!!! We have saved loads not ordering out!
