Great Kit
Michael Wilson•November 9, 2016
Great kit. I bought it for my 12 year old great grandson. I gave him a little help, but he built most of it. Everything was there and it went together easily. I really liked the fact that all the joints were put together with wooden dowels and a little glue. It works great. You do have to pay attention to the directions because at first glance some of the parts look alike. However, one of them will have an extra hole it that comes into play later in the assembly.
Great kit, very well made, easy to build, should last a while with some care.

I purchased this for my son's tenth birthday. He built it almost all by himself -- he needed a little muscle help with getting a couple of the dowels in, but otherwise he was able to understand the instructions and put it together and get it working.
The kit is very well made and well documented. The reviews that say that the arm snapped must have assembled it incorrectly or abused the catapult. I will put some extra foam at the impact point just to be safe, but I don't think this is a very serious concern unless someone really manhandles it.
If the strings are strung tightly enough, the catapult will throw balls well in excess of 15 ft.
Recommended.

Decent but needs some upgrades
Michael D. Wedlake•June 4, 2013
As many people have noted, the catapult's firing arm snaps after a few launches. I upgraded the catapult by purchasing a Threaded Rod, USS/Coarse Zinc Plated 1/4" - 20 x 12" (Barra Roscada Rosca Gruesa Enchapado en Cinc) distributed by Crown Bolt of Aliso Viejo, CA 92656 (UPC 0 30699 17000 5). Made in China. I purchased this at my local Home Depot for about $1. The threads work nicely for screwing into the existing wood pivot and the launching spoon. I will need to reinforce the arm padding a bit as with one launch it has flatten the end and left deep impressions in the foam. I also believe it would make more sense to have the pull trigger setup to pull the trigger arm to the side (left) rather than to the front of the catapult which is inconvenient and possible dangerous.
