Received this palm in good condition last week of August 2016 in tiny 4" pot. I keep it in bedroom for now and it is currently 9 plus " high (from soil level) and 16" across. Large window but am retired so I usually sleep til 10 or later with blinds closed. I did make extra effort with light /temp during recent bouts of 11º to 45º weather; otherwise minimal common sense care. Am repotting for 2nd time today. Happy with this purchase.
I finally have a plant that loves me back!

Bought this plant, put it inside a ceramic skull (looks like spiky hair). Originally skull wasn't manufactured to be a planter so there's no drainage holes--perfect for me since it's on a wire shelf over my cubicle computer! I used aquarium gravel in a thick layer then a layer of miracle gro pitting soil. This plant already had 50% growth within about 2 weeks under fluorescent office lighting. I just water about once a week whenever the soil is completely dry. If I, certifiable plant executioner, can grow this in my cubicle in Vegas desert (in a container not even designated as a planter) then anybody can! It's not just surviving, it's thriving!!

After reading many of the reviews on here, I was nervous about my purchase. But it was already done, and it's not like these plants are expensive. Over a month later, I'm still super happy with all three of the plants I ordered through this company. Unlike many of the other reviews I've seen, none of mine had any parasites, and they are all still healthy to this day. They all came surprisingly well packaged, with the dirt tray all taped up so as to not make a mess, and surrounded in packing peanuts. I would definitely purchase from this company again, and I very well might when I have a larger space.

I expected this plant to be smaller and battered from the travel. It came well packed, with no obvious damage (only one leaf was bent). It didn't even seem wilted because of the journey. After a couple days of water and light it looks even better than when it arrived.

arrived a little sad and pale looking (I suppose that's to be expected after spending a few days in a box and being shuffled around). Some of the dirt was spilled out in the box so I guess it got some rough handling.. but It seems to be gaining some color back and is doing well. All in all I am pleased and would order from Hirt's again. I would suggest they make the plant a little more secure in its packaging, that is all.
