Works well, but Not Designed for User Replacement of Batteries

Great tool, huge time saver in determining which cable goes where when you don't need to connect all of the cables at once. Works great (except as others noted, it does not work well thru a splitter). The only complaint I have is that it is not designed for replacement of the battery. That's disappointing, particularly for infrequent users. I used it to sort thru the cables this one time. The next time I need it may be a year or more from now -will the batteries be dead by then? Quite Possibly.
Definitely has uses!

Simple and effective. Had to trace out 6 coax cable in a bundle of about 85. Took a bit of time to for all the right ones but it was accomplished. Without this tool, it would have taken days instead of half an hour.

I have a half dozen open cables in my basement and used this to one, determine which of the loose cables lead to my family room and two, that the cable was good. I was able to move my cable box without having to pay to get a cable guy out again. The picture doesn't show it, but there's a terminator this tester uses so you can add the terminator to a wall outlet and connect the other end at the other end of the cable and ensure the cable is good.

Used this last night. I'm not very familiar with how to use this, as I have never done electrical work before or dealt with cable work. I was able to find a video on YouTube that was posted by Home Depot that showed me how to use it. It would have been helpful for Klein to have put up a video on how to use it, or how to troubleshoot if you can't figure it out. After I figured out how to use it, it worked great and this is a great product.

Many of the reviews here seem to be for the coax cable tester. I purchased the LAN cable tester for RJ45 as shown above. First the batteries are easily replaceable. Just unscrew the cover and replace the "calculator " style batteries. So obviously this tester is different than the one described in some of the reviews. I have used it only a few times so I cannot attest to durability, but it works just fine. I am using it to test Ethernet cable. I have tested both good and bad cables and the tester is accurate.
