Nice and sharp.

I read the description and the dimensions and looked at the picture. It is still smaller than I expected; especially the handle.. It is a nice little axe for small jobs around the camp site. The sheath borders on being dangerous. I would not trust the sheath for any type of carry. I would use it to cover the axe when not in use and nothing more.
Nice and sharp and a good axe for the price.

Handy tool

I've finally gotten to use this when chopping up some oak rounds for use in my smoker. It's not quite as heavy as I thought it would be so you have to use a bit more arm strength to cut through the wood...but it's a pretty handy little tool to have.
Very nice camp axe..highly recommend it!

Sharp and easy to maintain the edge on this well designed camp axe. Solid construction thru and thru with the right heft of do light to medium wood chopping and splitting chores. Well made nylon riveted scabbard and edge cover. It does not have a belt loop on the scabbard but for me that is good since I would not want it to be pulling down my pants since I have no waist or butt to hold them up very well.
Light weight, short handle, very sharp. Good for occasional light work. Need more oomph? Buy a bigger hatchet.

This is a lightweight hatchet for light work. It is very sharp, which is what you want in a hatchet. The hatchet is one piece of steel - no way for the handle to break or the head to come loose--it's one piece of steel. Nice. If you are considering anything other than occasional light work, buy a heavier and longer handled hatchet instead.
Not as nice as Estwing, but better than the cheapies with tubular steel handles

It's hard to tell from looking at the pic, but this hatchet's head and shaft are all one piece of steel. It's just that the back part of the head and the shaft are painted black. So plan on that scraping off over time.
The cover is poorly-designed, it falls off easily, which is a safety hazard, since one is supposed to be able to carry the hatchet on one's belt by this. I deducted two stars for this. It's a real safety hazard. I would go so far as to say the cheap, old-style ones with tubular steel handle would be better, IF they have a better sheath.
It comes with a usable factory edge. The grip is good, but not hand-filling for a man.
