My go to color!
Cee Cee Drew✓ Verified Purchase•April 20, 2017
3vr My hair tends to pull red, and after numerous trips to different salons where my roots had to be redone when they were lighter than the rest of my head, I figured I'd save everyone hours of redo and do it myself. (I could do no worse, right?)
I add gray out additive as my natural color is probably a good 50% gray, and it stays true until my roots grow in. No fading at all!
My stylist told me it looked amazing, but I thought she was just being nice until her coworker had to trim my hair when she was unavailable. The new girl said it looked great, then another stylist walked by and asked her if she did my color, because it was gorgeous. She had to admit I did it. I assured him, my hair expertise was limited to that color, and my head.
If it's warm, my roots can be drippy when I'm just doing them, (the foam tends to melt a bit) but dedicated towels and a plastic hair clip keep the mess contained, and the coverage is still awesome.

I have naturally dark/dirty blonde hair to begin with. I will preface this by explaining that I first used John Frieda 9N Light Natural Blonde a couple weeks ago thinking it would lighten my hair to a natural looking lighter blonde, but all it did was turn my hair a very yellow/pale red sort of strawberry blonde. THEN I realized I should've used a cooler blonde tone so I purchased this (9NP Light Natural Pearl Blonde). Night and day difference, folks. My hair is the light blonde shade I wanted while looking natural, plus there are beautiful shimmery strands throughout due to the pearl tones. Gorgeous dye, and I will definitely be using this again. Plus, even after dying my hair twice in two weeks (which I was very worried about), it still feels silky soft. This is a great brand.
Perfect for TONING blonde hair!

This is a product that I have bought about 30 times and I continue to buy. I don't actually purchase it for the purpose of "dying my hair", but rather for toning it. I don't have the patience for purple toners after I almost turned my hair blue one time. I have the color of hair that is on the box, but sadly I live in Florida which has multiple things that will turn blonde hair all different kinds of colors. Chlorine will turn hair green. Sun will bleach it more, and not in a good way. Hard city water leaves deposits which turn orange over time. Yuck. This product is lovely.
-So easy to apply. It's foam so you can see where it goes as you put it on, and the bottle is deceptive, so even with a TON of hair like me, you can use one bottle to cover your entire head. I used to have to buy two boxes of a similar product which wasn't foam to cover my entire head. This is less costly when you consider this although it seems more expensive from the get go.
-The color on the box is actually what you get. I can't say that this will be the case if you are very dark haired, but in general you should stay within 2 shades (darker or lighter) anyway before consulting a professional anyway to avoid color disasters.
-20 minutes, "set it and forget it!" and then shower. The conditioner that comes with this color is pure gold. So much so, John Frieda started selling it separately from the color because it's so concentrated and luscious it helps repair damaged hair. Careful though-it will leave hair greasy if you don't wash it out well or use too much. Also there is a clear serum that you can use that is a relatively new addition which is more of a shine booster, seems to work well but I don't notice a ton of difference overall.
I will continue to use this forever. I am a little salty about the fact that they technically discontinued my color (9A) a few months ago, but this color is basically identical. It is impossible to find at anywhere other than stores near Ulta near me since there is nobody who is blonde apparently. Unless you want bleach. I set this on a subscription for monthly delivery-easy as pie!

Love John Frieda hair color, just not this particular tint
Kym✓ Verified Purchase•August 2, 2016
I love John Frieda hair color because the mousse is so much easier to apply. This was just a bit brighter than I thought it was going to be because it actually lightened my hair. I only got this color because they discontinued my favorite color -- Light brown red -- and then discontinued the one I replaced it with -- medium brown red. I'm not sure why because they were great colors, so I decided to try this. Definitely very red. According to the box, my natural hair should have turned out an auburn color because I have medium to dark brown hair. Nope. It was bright red on my roots. Almost orange. I've washed it several times since, but I won't use this color again because that was just a bit much for me. It covers grays really well and it gives a good overall color with highlights so it doesn't look flat. It smells about as bad as most hair color, but not too awful. They could do with adding some botanical oils or something to make the smell a bit nicer. I like that they give you professional gloves to do this with -- not the crappy thin gloves that many hair colors come with. The application is easy -- just don't shake it. It won't look like it's mixed, but just tilt the bottle like the instructions say and when you squeeze it, mousse comes out. I make far fewer messes with this stuff than the color I used to use. I would get splatters all over my bathroom. I rarely have any drips with this one.
I have fairly thick hair that is shoulder length and this is just enough to cover all my hair. If you have longer hair that is also thick, you may need two boxes.

Strawberry blonde

I've used this brand many times in the past. It is easy to apply and doesn't fry the hair as bad as other brands. Never streaks or turns weird. This particular color though, I don't know..it doesn't match the description. It is supposed to be a cooler blonde, but looks nothing like the box or results chart. It is very pale warm strawberry blonde. I didn't hate the results, but they weren't what I was expecting.
