Nice leather
Amazon CustomerAugust 9, 2017
A very nice reproduction of the classic WW1 and WW2 gear and holster. Good leather and fast delivery. I'm very pleased with this purchase. A well earned FIVE stars.
Very nice but I wish it were the 1916 version instead ...

Very nice but I wish it were the 1916 version instead of the 1912 version. This one is for mounted cavalry.

Item as described. Good quality but lacking assembly instructions.
A well made product for original 1911 pistol ... but

... in being so will not accommodate the more modern 21st century 'repro' 1911 8 shot magazine [original pistol had 7 shot mags] as hole in retention flap will not reach closure pin with the slightly longer magazine.

Also, if your pistol has the 1/2" longer barrel threaded for a suppressor, the pistol must be forcefully inserted into holster in order to get the hole in retention flap to reach the closure pin.

Note: There was a piece of thick leather imbedded in the bottom of the holster that initially kept the pistol from being able to be fully inserted so check holster for scrap content.

An interesting detail on this holster is that it has a small brass ringed hole on the back side of the holster at the lower end for draining any water that may ingress when fording a stream or from a heavy driving rain. Nice detail.

Longer leather closure flaps to accommodate the above 'misfits' would be much appreciated. This extension could be designed to be cut off for the repro purists not needing them.

I have a Remington 1911 R1 Enhanced that I just bought new from a factory dealer.

Belt is plenty long being adjustable from ca44" to 54" waist w/o cutting holes for smaller waist size. Can extend size by 2" and reduce size by 24" by punching a new hole for size adjusting tang. I wear 42" waist pants and for this belt to fit snugly over my belted jeans it must be adjusted to 46".

The magazine holder can also be worn using your regular pants belt as it has a 'loop' on the back side that will accommodate a belt up to ca2" wide. Military belt brass tangs cannot be non-destructively removed. Holster can only be worn using the brass tangs with a military belt.

Stitching where needed is heavy but single row.

Thigh belt will fit thighs 38" to 25" without punching additional holes for up to a 4" larger thigh to as small a thigh as can be imagined.

Belt buckle closure seems vulnerable to accidental opening if belt is not sized to fit snugly. Belt buckle seems to be a cast metal that could be vulnerable to breakage. All other hardware parts are brass.
