I think the most important thing to know in order to make these fenders great again (hah) is that YOU WILL NEED THE STAY KIT. Seriously. Just buy the stay kit. When you do, and after you finally get these things in place (it's not as easy as it sounds), they're actually an outstanding set of fenders. They look really cool and add all the protection you could ever want. It transformed my bike and bike riding experience by allowing me to more places without fear of getting soaked or muddied up. And they look so much better than the more contemporary, common fenders you find on most bikes.

The reason I only give them a 4 star instead of 5 is because they were comically difficult to install. It's not as easy or straight forward as they seem they should be. They're not very universal, so I had to make them fit by using zip ties. And I think the stay kit should come with these, since it's pretty pointless without it.

They install easy with or without fender stays on my cyclocross bike with 700x35c tires. I had to bend the plastic of the front fender back and upwards to have it not touch the front wheel, which could probably solved with fender stays.

As for rain coverage, they are mediocre as the I notice the top of the fenders get wet/muddy; the area near where the chain stay bridge would be gets dirty as well as the fender does not reach nearly enough. Also, I don't want to imagine how anyone riding behind me would feel. These are a quick fix, but I probably want something longer.

If you avoid puddles I think you should be fine with these. I think these fenders are also easy to get stolen if you don't ziptie them or something.

These were the only fenders that would fit mi bike with a solid mounting. I have a bike with no chanstay bridge (Giant Anyroad 2016) so regular full fenders could not be mounted. I do recommend the U-stays for reduced vibration and a more solid installation. I got specific hex screws for my bike (personal preference) but they are really easy to install. Also easy to mount/dismount for when rain season is over and don't want fenders for a "cleaner" look, though they can be left on year round without any problems.

These are perfect!!! I wanted good fenders to keep me and my 2014 Specialized Vita Sport Disc EQ clean and dry, and to keep my rack, trunk bag, and panniers clean and dry for longer multiday trips if it rained. I didn't want fenders that went all the way down the back wheel because that doesn't look good to me. So these do and fit just the way I wanted them too. Installation was simple and easy, and the fenders went right on with the hardware provided. They do not get in the way of my feet as I'm cycling, and I do not need the optional stays which would have been a pain to mount with the disc brakes. I got the black because they color match my frame which is primarily black with pink and white trim. They don't make noise as I'm cycling which was one of the other reasons I wanted these. Aluminium stays and fenders tend to vibrate, these do not. I love these, they blend right in and are hardly noticible at all, they don't get in the way, don't vibrate, and don't add extra weight. These really are perfect right out of the box.

I mounted these on my Raleigh Clubman commuter bike with disc brakes. 700cx28 size tires. I was looking for something simple and effective to replace the custom metal fenders that originally came with the bicycle and were causing trouble with my rear rack and bumping into my toes with my clipless pedals and shoes on the front. I was worried that these might be too big for my fork width which is narrower than a hybrid bike. The rear clearance was perfect, and the front fork is tight but still works. I bought the optional SKS U-Stay Kit for Velo 42/47 Fender which I used on the front fender only; without the mounts on the front, the fender does not hug the wheel as mentioned by another reviewer for 700cx28 size tires. The U stay hardware for the front was great (and is not an issue with my disc brakes) since I have the dropouts already, and it keeps the fender tight against the wheel and allows me to turn without my toes hitting the fender in any pedal position. The rear fender clips nicely to my seat post tube near my bottle cage with a clever rubber band; I am worried that this piece may break off over time; but it's easy on and off. I did not use the U stay mounts for the rear; instead, I used some zip ties to hold it to my mounted rack since the rear disc brakes and my dropouts are an issue. 4 stars for the bolts that were too short for my front and rear fork; used my old fender nuts and bolts. They look good and should be sturdy for bumpy Seattle roads and good protection from the rain.
