First of all, this is a wonderful, clean, strong and genius idea for keeping unsightly necessities out of sight. I purchased two of these -- one for my rag, and the other for my dishwashing gloves.
The magnet is strong, yet allows for adjustments and changing your mind as to placement. These magnets are so strong, I'm not even using the adhesive backing on the back magnet. In fact, once in place without the adhesive, it's possible to make adjustments by slowly wiggling the sink half of the magnet - - - the undersink magnet will follow. I love how the bar itself, swivels and also lifts off the magnet base.
This makes for very easy cleaning and wiping of the sink walls. I keep the bar and the rag flush against the sink to keep it out of sight during the day, but swing it out at night to allow for max airflow around the rag overnight - - - completely dry in the morning and no more stinky damp rags.
A couple of tips:
- I asked users about the possibility of using this through wood (on the side of a cabinet). No one knew for certain, but the consensus seemed to be "no". They were right. Although you can feel a slight "attraction" through the side cabinet panel, there was not enough strength to hold up the bar itself, let alone hold the weight of even a small towel.
- I purchased this for a light remodel replacing counter tops and also changing out our old enameled cast iron sink with a stainless steel sink. The cloth holder obviously works perfectly with our new stainless sink, but surprisingly, it worked by itself (without the back magnet) with our old enameled sink. If I had given it a minute of thought, I would have realized the old sink is enamel over cast iron, so duh . . . of course it would work.
But . . . for anyone else out there who may not have thought this through, be pleasantly surprised that if using in a cast iron sink, you won't even need to place the second backing magnet - - - it works without it.
Absolutely love this, as well as the sponge holder I also purchased. Clean lines and items out of sight!

What a great solution to hanging your dishcloth!! I put a large farmhouse sink in my kitchen - which I love, but it left me with nowhere to hang the wet dishcloth. This is worth every penny - it looks good, keeps the dishcloth off my countertop, pretty much out of sight and its very easy to install. Just make sure you have the magnet that goes on the outside of your sink, facing the correct direction. I had the magnet facing the wrong direction at first and it allows the arm to slide. Yes I am blonde lol. Now that its installed correctly it holds the dishcloth right in place!! Seriously, buy one of these :)

It was pricey, but it works well. Our updated kitchen has a new island separating the living room from the kitchen area. As we relocated our sink to the island, we didn't want to have our dish cloth readily visible. We've been using this for over a month and so far, it works wonderfully. We didn't apply the 3M adhesive but are letting the magnets keep the holder in place on their own, realizing that if we remove one to clean the sink, the other will fall. We have an Elkay 16 gauge sink and use hand-knit (heavy) dish cloths and it has not fallen due to the weight or lack of magnet strength. I do wish the arm was a little bit longer as the cloth hangs off of the end.

Have not been able to affix this to my sink as one piece goes under the counter on the bottom of the sink and the other goes into the top of the sink. I do not know if it can be taken off and put on another sink, which I intend to put in later as the undercounted part is put on with attached double faced tape of some sort.

Above are my comments when I first purchased this and tried to affix it to a 1948 kitchen sink. Just this week my new sink was installed and so was this. I absolutely love it and it really was no problem to install it on the new sink. One note, my sink is 9 1/2" deep and the holder is close to the top, which allows e nought room for the dish cloth to hang down without resting on the bottom. My 1948 sink was only 6 1/2" deep, thus not deep enough for this.

This is just as pictured. Beautiful, functional and holds a dish cloth out-of-sight. It is a very strong magnet and, once I lined it up EXACTLY, the bar was able to hold a wet, medium-sized cloth (8"x8" or so). It did take a bit of patience to get it to line up EXACTLY - If the magnet isn't perfect then the bar will sag with any weight at all. Glad I was patient in setting it up. I was close to sending this back but took some extra time (and deep breaths) to play with the placement and am very pleased.
