I purchased this item to replace a 40-year old outdoor outlet which was installed in the brick. While most people will use this item when creating a new brick wall, I used it to replace the home's original outlet. I had to make the opening in the brick wider/longer to accommodate the new box. This item comes with an outer box and an inner box. I only used the inner box in my installation since there didn't seem any need for it and it avoid further trimming of the brick. I had planned to screw the box into the brick, but found that since I made the opening just slightly larger than the box, the box fit tightly in and thus, no screws were needed to secure it. I used the provided caulk tape between the brick and the front of the box, mostly on the top and sides. My only issue was that the outlet cover (not the hinged box door), is rather thin and cracked when I tightened the screw. I would recommend this item.
