Step up to a high mattress!
Jill CarlsonJune 10, 2017
Our mattress is the new style, which makes it too high for my disabled husband to just sit down on. He would try to do a little jump to get his butt back further on the mattress before he tipped over to lay down. He can no longer do his little jump, so this 4 inch step gets him high enough to get into bed. Most small stools on the market are too high and have too small an area for an elderly person with Parkinson's to step on without missing. The large surface area of this stool provides a safe place to step down, even in the middle of the night. This stool is also easy to clean when my hubby has a toilet accident.
The Occupational Therapist recommended taking out the bed frame and putting the box spring on the floor. That would have been too low, especially for me (with my own physical problems!). This is a great solution.
Dangerously Cheap Step
Mike C.March 9, 2017
This step is a cheap piece of crap! To put a picture of an elderly person using this step, is FALSE ADVERTISING, to state it holds 400 pounds is FALSE ADVERTISING! This step broke the first night of using it on both center ends!!!!! Beyond a waste of money, I will be contacting Amazon support on this one, since they have it on their site, they need to take it off!!! Complete waste of money, and your time! I will be posting pictures of the cracks later. Do NOT listen or trust any even minutely postivie or good reviews of this product, it is a piece of junk! I can't even find this order in my order history on Amazon! Another issue! But when I post pictures, you will know I am telling the truth about this POS. When you pull it out of the box, it looks like it is a great product, until you step on it a few times and it cracks on you, I only weight 180 pounds. I would give this zero stars if possible!

I have just added photos, I purchased this on February 17th, just used this step for the first time, and now cannot for the life of me figure out how to return this cheap, and dangerous product, especially for elderly people! This step cracked on both sides, I turned the step around to use the uncracked side and a few steps later, it cracked even worse on the other side! Do not buy!!!
This has helped so much getting in the front door of my home and into my bed!

So much help. I had my second knee replaced and all went well but I had some medical issues following surgery and rehab. I had blood issues and a blood clot so I was longer getting back to normal walking. I am still using a walker or cane getting to and from my car and if I'm going shopping.

I have fallen twice getting into my home because I was trying to carry too much at once into the house. The step at my front door is the highest I have to conquer getting into my house. I bought this step to help me get into the house and I have not fallen once since I started using it. It just stays outside at my front door and I feel so much more secure when I use it. It's wide enough for me to step on, unlock the door, then put my walker inside the doorway and step up just a short step to get into the house.

I also bought a second step to use to help me get into my bed at night. My bed is pretty high for me, I'm only 5'1" and could get in barely before this second knee replacement but with my additional problems with my surgery, I needed help getting into bed at night unless I hired someone to come over every night and push/pull me into bed!! The second step gives me just enough extra height that I can stand on the step,
and it's wide enough I can twirl around and sit on the bed then swing my legs in. Perfect!! No other help needed!
Worth the money.

My husband has medical problems that restrict him lifting his legs too far. This was the perfect solution. Cuts the height of the front step in half so he can maneuver up it better. He is a big man - 407 lbs. This product is rated for 440 lbs so I thought no problem. While it does support his weight it did crack. Now if you look at the pictures, you'll see that even with the crack the step is well supported underneath. So much so that I went and bought another one. For the price it's still a good investment to help get him in and out of the house. I do not leave them outside being the Pennsylvania and cold winters so I don't know how they would hold up to the cold.
Excellent product, but the rubber feet can fall off! Simple $3 solution using rubber cement or plastic adhesive.

I recently bought two of these to help my 88 year old mom enter and exit from two sets of stairs we have (entryway at front door and to the garage area). They are very sturdy, safe steps and I would give them 5 stars except for one thing. I noticed as I moved the step that one of the little rubber stoppers had fallen out of its hole. There are four of them around the outer edges at each corner and then two at each interior support post for a total of 12 rubber stopper style feet. Losing one is probably not a major deal but several of them were loose! Since we will be moving these when not in use (too many kids in the neighborhood who are a little more curious than we would like them to be, not that they'd be mean or cruel about it) the few times I tested it out and moved it back inside I saw how these rubber feet can fall out so easily.

Solution: Simple... I bought a tube of $3 Plastic flexible adhesive and put that on the removed stoppers for all four outer corners and that fixed the problem. I was going to use generic rubber cement but the hardware store I went to was out of simple rubber cement. So when you get yours (they are an excellent product, I WANT to give them 5 stars but I can't unless they include some rubber cement in the package) use some glue / rubber cement / plastic flexible adhesive on the feet and put them back in and in less than 30 minutes you will have a 5 star product that will make it much safer for you and your family to enter / exit using steps.

There was only one rubber foot on the interior supports that was loose but the glue helped there too... So I used the glue on 5 out of 12 feet so far though later I will get all of them now that I see how well the glue worked. Sometimes even the best products out need a little personal touch to make them even better! I still very highly recommend this product and am very thankful they are available. It has taken a lot of fear out of my mom's mind when entering or exiting the house.
