Worked fine until we got a little water in the boat ...got into areas it did not belong.

Certainly would not buy this product again. Turns out - this was NOT a correct product for '98 GS model, even though it came up as a match for my Amazon search. The round flange, with the o-ring to seal off the flywheel area from water, was not the right size by maybe 1/8 inch in diameter. So, there was no seal; water came into the flywheel area when some got in the boat, and caused the death of the motor as well as the bushing to become heavily rusted. I advise getting your motor from WaterCraft Warehouse.
