I received this yesterday.
The antenna picks up more channels than I expected. My main complaints are the buzzing sound on some channels, the loud high pitched whine when the battery is low, and I don't think it's holding a charge.
I charged it last night (all night). Today I used it for less than five minutes and the battery died. I will charge it again and if the battery dies in a short amount of time, I'm going to return it.
I bought this as an emergency backup tv and it's not going to do me any good if it won't hold a charge.
Didn't test the remote.
The small black antenna gave me better signal than the telescopic one.

This item arrived late and the quality of the unit is a bit poor, but for what it is intended to be -- a small, battery-powered tv -- I'm not looking for fine craftmanship either. The main problem for me is that even after letting the battery fully charge, the most it lasts on its own, i.e., not plugged into the electrical socket, is 1 hour. This is not acceptable and not in line with the duration expected. Should at least be a handful of hours. I tested it a few times and always got the same result. Also, the remote that came with the TV didn't work so I got the impression that perhaps I got a used remote or at the very least, one with a drained battery.
If I only wanted to use this as a small TV that would always be plugged in, my review would be more favorable, but since I only intend to use it during power outages during hurricane season, it doesn't work for me and regrettably I need to send it back.
Also, I concur with many other reviewers that the instructions are lacking, but assembling the stand doesn't take too much to figure out and at the end of the day TV menus are pretty much standard and navigable in order to get things set up the way you want.

Received NO channels even with a long-range multi-directional antenna

First one arrived and would charge and found no channels, but I bought it used so wasn't overly surprised.
Replaced with a brand new one, and it charged okay but still would not get any channels so I gave up. I was surprised also that it had no indicator light to say it was charged. On my old one, the red light turned green when charged. Apparently, on this one the red light just goes off and I assume that means it was charged. Either way, my old crummy TV got 8 channels and using the same antenna in the same spot I could not get one channel on this TV. Disappointing because it looked nice and had a larger screen than my old 7" screen, but useless if you can't receive any channels.

Great little TV. I bought it as a larger external screen for my inspection camera and it does it's assigned job verry well would recommend this to anyone in need of a small portable TV or if they need it for what ibuse it for great for the money
