Great for swimming around near shore.

OK for fit (size=large) and design. My 75 pound German shepherd likes it and even seems to prefer swimming with it. The ability to adjust to a snug fit with the neoprene also seems to provide her with some added warmth in cold water. It seems to provide adequate flotation in calm water, but in water with waves nearing a foot she seems to start struggling a bit as she get's tired. I've got a second one of a different brand and double them up when I take her kayaking and we may encounter any bigger water farther from shore. Doubling seems to do the trick. I prefer this ones fit and design but the buoyancy is about the same as the second one I got, so I think it is standard that the amount of flotation provided is borderline. In truth when the dog is not tired, it's back is out of the water and the flotation on the back isn't doing any good. If she really got tired enough to stop swimming her back may sink some and the added flotation from the back would keep her from going down any further. If this brand was available with an option for double the flotation built into the sides I would easily give it 5 stars.
That is my only suggestion for this otherwise perfect product. Thank you so much for giving us ...

Took this to the lake with my parents 125 pound golden retriever. It worked amazingly. To my surprise the handle even held up to the pressure of us using it to help him pull himself back up on the dock repeatedly. My only issue is this: we bought both the large and the extra large for 2 massive dogs. There really should be a size in-between the two. The extra large is really, really big and the large was barely fitting my 95 pound German Shepherd. That is my only suggestion for this otherwise perfect product. Thank you so much for giving us such a great week at the lake. Anything that can survive my German Shepherd playing, swimming, jumping, scratching and otherwise being a turd is an awesome product.

It fit my corgis great. My littlest who's 18lbs needed the small and the medium was a little big on my boy who's 28lbs but the small wouldn't fit him at all. They worked well and the pooches loved swimming around with them on.

We just adopted a rescue Golden girl (2 1/2 years old) and want to take her boating with us. I bought this, and we tried it for the first time a few weeks ago. She is 70 pounds and muscular, and there was plenty of room. She looked adorable in it, but more importantly she loves water so much she kept trying to jump out of the boat and into the water! If she had succeeded this would have saved her life.

I really want to like this adorable little life vest that we bought for our dachshund... We bought the vest because we have a pool and wanted to let our little guys come in the water and not have to work so hard to swim. Maybe this isn't the proper utility for this vest, because whenever we let go of him in the water he log-rolls to one side like a kayak tipping over. It looks great on him and despite the fact that we accidentally ordered a size too small (we meant to get small but ordered XS by mistake) it seems comfortable on him. He can run and paddle well (until he rolls over uncontrollably). It is made well and has great straps and clips. We tried the vest on another of our smaller dachshunds and the same problem with tipping occurred. Maybe a breed with a shorter body would do well with this vest, but we will keep looking for the perfect fit for our little guys.
