Installed two of these turbines at a remote site. Both stopped working within a couple of days. Dont waste your money!

this unit stood still in 19 mph winds. 6 mph is a lie. Even the manual that came with the unit said wind cut in speed is 8.5 mph. The poorly translated manual also has no info about the flashing red light. I'll be returning this for a refund.

6/15/15- i havent installed this unit yet, because there was no base plate included. have to figure out how to install on my own. ive called about 8 different electrical and metal suppliers, but have found nothing commercially available.

6/19/15- i installed the unit yesterday near the coast. the wind report said that the wind speed was 12 MPH at the time of my test, and the blades still wouldnt spin. this unit is touted to start up at 6 MPH. (not true) I am very disappointed.

7/28/15- i left turbine up for a month, and we only noticed it spin once for a short time on a windy day. I blew it by not checking the return on this item. FYI only a 30 day anazon return window. i contacted Aleko directly, but they wont take it back either:( Now i am stuck with a unit that is practically useless in this area... #buyersremorse #suckerpunch

I loved this wind turbine at first, what's not to love, it's green friendly and looks great. HOWEVER , I chose this model due to it's ability to be 12vdc or 24vdc, because I knew I would upgrade my off grid system to 24vdc eventually. DO NOT BUY, do not buy ANY wind turbine with an "integrated " charge controller, this part can go bad , then what? replace the whole unit? that seems expensive.. charge controllers are CHEAP. I have mine wired up to a STOP switch near the battery location, as well as an AMP meter just before this, knowing the meter does eat some current just having in place is discomforting but without it you dont know if the turbine is charging your batt or not, and it HAS to be connected to a batt for it to produce voltage so an AMP meter is your only diagnostic tool. This model has a green and red LED on the bottom of itself so when it is spinning it should be lit up green if its charging your batt, or red if it is beyond your limit switches,, batt to dead or batt to full. first of all they are not BRIGHT at all, and the wind turbine is say 50 ft or so in the air on a pole....cannot see the lights, and who wants to take the thing down to service it regularly or attempt to service ,, since its all integrated makes that an almost impossible feat. i bought it a year ago, it no longer works , actually I have no idea when it quit... It is within the year manufacturers warranty , however GudCraft is very difficult to contact or deal with tech support , let alone inquire about returns.. my advice... this is alot of money for a toy that is likely to crap out on you. invest that money into an american product that you can contact tech support , and understand them when they are speaking to you. As for mine, I am banging my head on the wall, wishing a review like this would have been available a year ago and i could have spent it on a comparable product from a different manufacturer. I may end up dissecting the poor thing and see if bypassing the cheap integrated controller is an option , now that i have a very expensive NICE charge controller for my solar array that also has a wind turbine input... startup wind speed for this windmill is around 10-12 mph, not as low as I would have liked but blades are not real long so kind of expected. check your area for nominal wind speeds , you need more than a gentle breeze for this one.

I have not installed the turbine yet, but it looks well made. Installation looks fairly easy. it is completely self contained which is good for the novice, but might not be so easy in case you had to troubleshoot the unit.
