As part of a remodel, I had power and AV connections added to the wall over my fireplace. Bought a nice thin Sony TV only to find out that the power supply is now provided via a power brick. Who does that? Anywho, bought one of these, cut a hole in the drywall, and installed it to hold the lame power brick. They make these out of plastic too, but the power brick gets hot so I bought this metal one. Works great, easy to install.
Not bad.

Couple things to mention. First, although it looked to me like the color was metallic in the picture, the unit is actually white. Color aside, the box appears sturdy and easy to install. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, hide cables and power.
A couple issues though. The purpose of this box is to hide cables behind your television. It has a removable metal piece that can be replaced with another that has an opening to run cables and one for the power supply. The power supply opening should fit a regular power adapter (I'm guessing based on the look, that the power supply can be screwed into the two lateral holes. And, then a gang box connects to the power supply). A lot of people (myself included), Im assuming, use the something like a Powerbridge. This can only be used if the power supply opening is cut open a little more to allow it to fit in. Not horrible (except for the fact that you have to cut into your brand new box). But something the manufacturers should have thought of.
The other thing they should have considered was how the television attaches to the wall. Given, I have a small TV, I attached the mount to the side of stud so that the mount would rest in box and the TV would be flush with the wall. Now, I obviously don't expect the manufacturers of this unit to have predicted I would do that. But, extra removable sides would have made my job so much easier (than drilling holes through the unit that lined up with the mounts holes),
All in all, a decent box to hide your cables that could have used a little more thought in it's creation.

Highly recommend

Excellent build quality, plenty of room for a small power strip and cables. I even mounted an Intel NUC micro-PC in one of these behind my TV. I'd highly recommend it.
Five Stars
