Condor Tool and Knife 2.25 Greenland Pattern Camp Axe.
Chad DMarch 5, 2017
Nicely handled and solidly seated axe. No varnish to remove. Slightly annoying safety warning branded on the handle. Could have been sharper but the profile was good. Perfect size and price for a camp axe.
A very useful size and heft

This is probably the optimum size for home use (preparing firewood from pre-cut chunks) and for vehicle camping. It's a little large and heavy for backpack camping, but I'd still be tempted to take it along if possible, because its greater weight and length of handle make it more suitable to work on larger chunks of wood. For smaller ones, I'd prefer to use a heavy machete or camp knife rather than a hatchet, because I find the former more versatile.
Really Nice Axe, but 26-inch Handle Doesn't Match the Description
K. KlutheJanuary 11, 2017
Nice small axe, with good leather sheath. Fits the niche of 2-handed hatchet/small axe.

I give it only 3 stars because I was expecting 23" total length, but received one that's 26". You'd think they could do better than a 3-inch variation. While 23" and 26" would have the same weight of head, and both are designed for two-handed operation, 23" lets you store and carry it in more ways, and easier to use one handed if needed.

More details:

"¢ Unfinished wood. Nice grain, although mine has a large knot at the bottom end of the handle.
"¢ Lanyard hole (but no lanyard).
"¢ Comes as sharp as I would expect a chopping/splitting tool to be... Its not a knife. But it is carbon steel, so you can put whatever edge you want on it. My only complaint with the blade is that maybe they could have decreased the grind angle of the last half inch or so from the blade edge? As it is, its got a pretty thick convex grind right up to the edge. Strong, but for this size of axe-hatchet hybrid, I would like a little more bite for cutting and chopping, not just splitting... But this is a minor nitpick.

I'm going to keep the Condor, but honestly the Cold Steel Trail Boss I ordered before this Condor -- but returned because it was also much longer than advertised, at 27"-- had a more functional grind angle for these size of axes, and is only half the price.
Top notch axe

I really love this axe. It was the only axe I've bought from Amazon in the price range that could chop well right out of the box. I thinned the cheeks a bit and now it's a monster! The handle is perfect and the hang is too. Great all around package. This is one of my favorites out of the dozens of axes I own.

The picture does not match the axe in the description. Apparently the person running the Amazon store has no idea how messed up the Condor product pages are.
Solid value

Near perfect construction, head to handle. The eye of the head is not quite perfectly centered, but I don't think a millimeter will bother me. Grain orientation is spot on. Sheath is very good quality leather, well made. Out of the box the edge is straight, true and pretty sharp, even "cleaner" now after a few minutes with a stone. Overall length is 25 & 1/2," handle from head to butt is 24." It is long enough for 2 handed use and balanced nicely for one handed use. Should be a fine camp ax, from smallish trees to feather sticks, although a bit bigger and heavier than some folks might want for back-packing. One could easily spend a lot more, but, for me, this a ax for recreation, not my occupation.
