If you have tinnitus, the significant white noise from this fan may be beneficial

Pros: This is a nice fan. Much bigger than expected. It moves a much wider swath of air than the Vornados; it has sturdy, foam feet to dampen vibration; the fan is tiltable.
Con: Unfortunately, with the thin, aluminum fan blades, it produces significant noise even at low setting - and even if you are sitting several feet from the fan. Also it doesn't seem to have a 'low' setting. The medium and low setting are both quite strong so both settings are noisy. This is not a 'TV' fan. For example, if you are using this fan to cool you off on your exercise bike while watching TV - no go. I had planned to use it to pull air from my tube amp to ventilate the tubes a bit while listening to music, but the fan noise can be heard thru my headphones so I had to return the fan. Also if you live in a humid climate and have no air conditioning, the all-metal design of this fan will develop rust quickly.

This fan is huge and will get a whirlwind swirling around you. I purchased it because my mom had a patton fan 20 years ago that was whisper quiet. This is still a nice fan but even on low it is very loud. For example, you can't hear a TV in the same room while the fan is going. If you need to push some air around in a room that you don't mind sounding like you are on an airplane, this fan is for you. It is heavy duty. I would get a smaller and quieter fan for everyday use. I still like the fan especially at night since it drowns out other noises, and makes the air in the room feel great. Helps me sleep. This not an ordinary fan.

Grave disappointment. This is not the Patton High Velocity fan of a few years ago. You can get a 20 inch high velocity fan at half the price at Home Depot and it will move more air than this sad replacement for the original Patton High Velocity Fan. The original could move 3000 and more square feet of air per minute. Pull air through your entire house. This sadly is just a fan. And, in comparison to what else is out there is an amazing rip off price wise. Patton can do better than this. So can you.

The Patton PUF1810C-BM 18-Inch High Velocity Fan works great. It will cool you off without the air conditioner on as long as it is faced directly in your direction. There were days when it was very hot in my apartment, but the fan kept me cool. Now, the downside of the fan. This is my second Patton fan in four years (same model). Check out my pictures because the fan with the longer cord is the newest model. The three speed adjustment part was also changed. Patton added numbers so you could know if it was on speed 1,2, or 3. The older models did not have numbers.

Patton no longer sells the fuse needed in the plug. The representative did tell me that I could use one similar. I forgot to mention this in my review. I tried to replace the fuse after the previous model from 2012 stopped working. I discovered the fan just stopped working after four years and this is why I purchased another a new fan.

I have slept with a fan all my life. My children did as well. I do not want a quiet fan. I want white noise at its best. As a result of those desires, I have to research. The reviews on this fan are right on target. I do not understand why anyone would give this jewel a bad review. It is amazing. I only need to use the low setting. The noise is perfect. Drowns out my neighbors barking dogs and the garbage truck and the doorbell. I do hope I can hear the fire alarm if the occasion appears..and we hope it does not. I sleep late so that makes me a night owl. I do not want to be bothered by unwanted noise. And...the air this fan puts out is great. The cord is longer than most and therefore I do not need an extension cord. And you only need to attach the stand with a push and a click. No tools needed. Also, the fan is easy to clean with a few levers to turn. No tiny screws to drive you crazy. And, finely...it is all metal. No plastic. If, however you like a quiet fan this would not be for you. I am so happy.
