This is my second Ashford loom. I also have a 32" and the 48" is almost identical. I love having the flexibility to weave with the larger width. The only significant difference (aside from the size) is that the heddle is slightly larger on one side. In my eagerness to get started, I didn't notice until after I had my first project warped and ready to weave. Upside down, the heddle fits in the "up" and "neutral" positions, but not the "down" position. So, I had to untie, oh so carefully remove, and then re-thread the full length of the heddle. Not a mistake that I will make again. What I learned was that I need to pay better attention and probably need new glasses. The company name is printed on it, which should have given me a clue, but an arrow or "this side up" warning would have been much appreciated. It's also important to realize that you need 4 feet of clearance on either side to pass the shuttle. I highly recommend this for weavers who already have some experience and want to expand. It's a great new tool. Thanks!
Nice loom but a few cons when it comes to its use

I own a 24" loom from a different manufacture

A few things that I like:
1. the wood is smooth which makes assembly a breeze.
2. the plastic warp stick ties.
3. once assembled the loom is very sturdy.

A few things I don't like:
1. This loom is BIG and because of this, it is very hard to weave while sitting (not really the loom's fault but something to keep in mind).
2. plastic pawls and cogs. I am sure that these will wear out. My smaller loom has metal cogs and pawls.
3. the shed on this loom is a lot smaller than it is on my 24" loom. I believe this could be solved with a slightly taller reed blocks.
4. The pawls don't always snap into/out of place. While this makes the beam lock up a bit of a challenge, once locked up it is solid.
5. The lack of a pickup stick. Seriously? I am sure I can make one but I would much rather have one from Ashford.

Overall, this is a nice rigid heddle loom but it is important that the purchaser understand the width. I am 6' 2" with a decent wingspan and I can't grab the shuttle as it comes out.
everything is good described
