Quite pungent, in just the way I remember the wonderful hot mustard my parents warned me about the first time I remember going out to a classic American style Chinese restaurant in the 1960s. I loved the taste then, and I still love it now. It goes great with any kind of protein. I particularly like it with pork-based sausages or hot dogs, and with shrimp.

You can mix it to whatever consistency you like. I remember Chinese restaurants usually presenting their mustard on the runny side.

Comes in a nice steel tin and it should stay fresh. Expiration was a year away and I bet it will last much longer.

I love spicy food but this was more than I could take. A teaspoon on the tongue had me frantically washing my mouth out.

Before serving it I'd mix a small amount of the S&B with any spicy American mustard using two parts American to this one

I have enjoyed hot mustard in Chinese restaurants for decades, but never realized it was so easy to make at home until about a year ago. The basic recipe I have followed is to mix one part water and one part mustard power, adding a little bit more water along the way until you get the consistency you desire. You then just let it sit while you prepare your meal. You do not have to use a special mustard power, but the S&B mix with turmeric added seems to produce a better, more consistent result. A little hot mustard goes a long way, so this can should produce plenty of servings. I have been pleased with the quality and plan to buy it again in the future.

This product is hard to find in stores. This is the real deal. Not like those nasty pre-mixed "hot" Chinese mustards you get in the supermarket that add vinegar - YUCK! This is the stuff you get in Chinese restaurants - not the stuff in the packets. This will last forever. A real sinus clearer -just kidding!
