I've owned three of these over many years. They last about 5 years or a bit longer. By the time the parts get worn down, the hose are usually shot. The cost to replace the worn parts and hose sections is just about the cost of a whole new unit which comes with new hose sections. I don't use the part that attaches to the skimmer. I use a device named VAC-MATE manufactured be Pentair. This provides more control. Also I throw a tennis ball in the top of the skimmer to break up any orifice before it forms and pulls air into the system. Cleans well and covers the entire pool even up the sides. Easy to install and operate. Quiet operation. Recommend this to anyone. Nice product.
