We were replacing a remote system that just didn't work very well. This combination has had one hiccup so far, but it's been reliable other than that. The installation is easy, but the pairing of the receiver was ... easy once you figured it out. I set it up to run for one minute (the time it takes for hot water to get from the heater to the far end of the house where the bathrooms are. The instructions are the problem, not the units themselves. You have to highlight the steps you need and ignore the others, but it takes several read throughs to figure it out. Once you've done that it's a breeze. I mounted ours with wall anchors and screws. This combination as a range of 500 feet, we only need 50, the old system had a max range of 100 feet, but was iffy at 50. If you're setting these up for ON/OFF rather than timer countdown, set up/instructions are easy. I paired and programed the transmitters to the receiver before installing anything to verify it all worked.

Seemed like a good way to add a switch, didn't work. I got everything hooked up following directions, pretty easy. I try to program it, doesn't work, try a couple more times, still nothing is happening. I review the instructions and see it says the led should stay on for 15 seconds after inserting the battery indicating "learn mode." I pop the battery out and in, led only stays on about 2 seconds, try a couple more times same result. I try programming again and make sure to hit the button in the first second while the led is still on, still doesn't work. I try calling their tech support, get a voice mail. I go onto amazon and try to return it, but it's non returnable. I seems like these work for some, maybe they're lucky, I wish I didn't gamble on this product and I advise you not to either.

BEST THING EVER. We had a fan in our room and wanted just a light. When we took it down, realized the fan was a pull string and that was the only way it would work, there was no light switch anywhere. So my husband bought this, with the skylink home controllable and wired everything up! Works like a charm and no one ever even knows this is not TECHNICALLY a real light switch. Now we are going to buy more and add light switches in the house for the garage and little building outside so that I can control those lights in the house also!

This is everything I wanted from a sub-$20 product. I bought two. Thankfully the first one had its battery tab in place, meaning the battery was good, and I was able to program the LX-318 Light Bulb Receiver in minutes. The second switch would not hold the programming for a second receiver until I replaced the battery, which I thankfully had on hand! In the meantime, I had programmed the first switch to connect with the second receiver The button battery for the switches is easy to replace and cheap enough if you buy then in packs. For my 125 year old house with plaster walls, these products are worth every penny.

Cons: There is a noticeable delay of seconds while the switch is transmitting wirelessly. Still less time than walking across a room or getting out a flashlight.
You can't flip the switches back and forth too quickly; the signals won't register correctly some of the time.
The switches don't have a dedicated on/off position, which is good if you want more than one switch to a fixture, but even if you don't, and set the programming one way, it might get switched at some point, and you'll have to fiddle with the instructions to get it back the way you want it. For my purposes, it's fine. It's just a paddle button with two positions.

This product works great when it works. We did not have a light switch where we needed one for a light fixture we wanted to install above our deck. A friend recommended this and it looked like an ideal solution. This item was easy to set up and super easy to install. (Just sticks to the wall via the supplied 2 sided tape). However, we are currently on our 3rd one in only six months. They work great for a while and then stop working. The first one worked for about 4 months. The second one worked for about 2 weeks and the third one is currently in place. Also, you cannot send these back. You are required to contact the manufacturer. Buyer beware with the quality of this unit. The part that connects to the light fixture has worked flawlessly

Follow up: Customer service contacted me and sent me a free remote. It lasted about 1 week and quit like all of the others. In 8 months, we have gone through 4 of the remote switches. Today I removed the the unit and installed a motion light outdoors. Do not buy this if you need something reliable. Look for other solutions.
