Prior to choosing the Darice, I viewed many other corded mini-lamp devices for illuminating one of our ceramic village buildings placed beneath our Christmas tree. I found the Darice brand to be superior in many respects. The power cord is very generous in length; the plug is polarized so be aware of using the correct socket on the other end. The cord is also switchable, ON or OFF. The bulb socket is well made however, the metal spring clip cannot be totally engaged within a 1" opening at the back of a standard village building. There is, although, enough metal length to properly engage the opening without it being loose. All of the bulb and socket were able to protrude into the miniature building with only the back end of the bulb socket sticking out from the back; not a problem, just be careful not to force the bulb assembly into the 1" diameter opening. Overall, a well made lamp assembly for your miniature buildings.
