I bought this longboard and it's been good to me for a year now. Its a good beginner board. You might need to loosen the trucks a bit especially if you want to carve. The grip and wood of the board are very flexible and the construction of the board itself doesn't feel cheap. I recommend it if you are looking for a present for someone or just looking to use it as a casual cruiser!
Good for a starter board, but there are better for a similar price

For my first longboard this worked fine. Got me around campus without a problem. I would definitely advise getting this longboard Atom Drop Through Longboard (40 Inch) over the one you're currently looking at. The bamboo/maple mix makes for a smoother ride and the design looks cooler as well. No matter which you choose, I would advise spending the extra cash (like $13) on some Bones Reds bearings. They will make your first longboarding experience far more enjoyable.
6 Month Update~~Still Happy With This Board

6 months in, I want to update my review of this board. I hadn't skate-boarded since High School (I'm 65+). After using the board several times a week for 6 months it still garners 5 stars. I weigh 200#, but it is holding up just fine. In fact, it seems that the last month or so the bushings are getting nice and broken in, and the deck is flexing just right, tho it may be that I'm just able to put a bit more behind my turns than I could initially. I ride on concrete and asphalt, usually a few miles per session, but the wheels are holding up just fine as well. I don't anticipate needing to replace any of the components soon. I highly recommend this setup for anyone starting out or, like myself, starting over. That said, I've not gone without crashing a few times. Every crash has been because I was stopped dead by a stick or rock. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD!! When you crash--you go in a hurry. Safety equipment is important and the most important things, from my experience, are wrist braces. At least my wrists are what have come closest to serious injury. You don't want to be sitting the the ER with a brand new cast, wishing you'd invested $20 on a nice pair of braces instead. I have a pair of "187 Killers" that seem adequate. Skinned knees will heal, but----------a word the wise.............
My son couldn't be happier

My son had rode someone's longboard and fell in love with it so when it was time to buy I said look them up on Amazon and see if you find one. This is the one he chose and he has been thrilled with it. He bought extra bearing (I don't even know what a bearing does ha) and extra wheels that light up which look great at night as well as a helmet. He is very happy with his purchase (which of course makes me very happy)!
great starter board

I decided to try longboarding about six months ago. I have been biking on a local bike path for about ten years and was looking for something new to change things up. I was 34, now 35, and figured I better get started before father time got the best of me. I saw the good reviews for this board and figured for the price it would be a good option to see if I liked the spot. It turns out I love longboarding and I have been averaging about 60 miles a week since then. I ride on a flat paved path and this board has been just about perfect for my needs. Out of the box this is a great beginner board. If you add some upgraded bearings, bones super reds for example, this is a fast board that you can take comfortably on long trips. I am focused on speed and distance, and this board does both very well once you upgrade the bearings. I have had it up to 40 mph or so on some downhill spots and it is very stable. The drop through design means that its pretty low to the ground so you don't have to bend your plant leg very much, this is very important if you are looking to go on longer trips. I am right around 200 pounds and this board has no problems holding my weight. The wheels are large enough that it will roll right over cracks in the pavement or small sticks and rocks.
I can't recommend this board enough. If you are thinking of giving longboarding a shot this is a great place to start.
